What does Islam bring? More and more mosques regardless of the relevant Council's objections. Council seems to have absolutely no say whether yet another mosque is built within its boundaries. It's either taken to the Land and Environment Court and overruled or a panel is selected to make the decision over Council's objections.

What the point in having Councils if they are not allowed to listen to and then keep the social structure of the people they represent?

Glenhaven is a quiet semi rural area north west of Sydney and, once again, Castle Hill Council have been overruled over their decision to oppose another mosque in the area as it is not in keeping with the area and would cause severe traffic problems etc. There is a whole swathe of reasons that this would not be in keeping with the area.

A few years ago the same thing happened when a mosque was proposed a mere few kilometers down the road at Annangrove. Council opposed the mosque but the LE Court overruled them and a hideous compound like structure was allowed to be built. It looks like a prison.

Now the same thing is happening just down the road. There will be more mosques than churches in the immediate area. 500 people are attending a meeting tonight when this 'independent panel' will hand down their decision.

There are already 3 mosques close by already yet they want another massive prayer compound for this tiny minority (cough) of people? Dozens of mosques around Lidcombe/Auburn why do they need to keep spreading them out further and further? Why are we allowing this?

Mosques are built because there is a demand for Mosques, BO. Simples really. Muslims want to be able to prayer where they like, just as Christians/Buddhists/Hindus/etc. do. I wonder if you're not committing the usual Xenophobic attack of assuming that 'cause people wear Turbans, they're Muslims? Usually when a Hindu Temple or a Sikh Temple is being built, some pig-ignorant Xenophobe will deposit a pig's head on their front doorstep, assuming that Turbans are only worn by Muslims.
