I still believe that the Sudanese that come here got their money from being pirates.

No, it's just time they were rounded up and waved off our shores.

Two groups of African Australian youths who descended on Taylors Hill overnight were north-south rivals gathering for a brawl over girlfriends, Victoria's top cop says.

Riot police converged on a basketball court and complex in the north-western suburb on Wednesday evening after reports a group of more than 100 young people were throwing rocks and had damaged a police car.

Victoria Police Graham Ashton told ABC Melbourne about 20 to 30 Sudanese Australians were involved in the fight which he understood was over girlfriends.

"We had a group of about 20 or 30, it was kids from our Australian Sudanese (community) coming from the southern suburbs to meet up with kids from the northern suburbs to have a bit of clash there ... about girlfriends or something like that," he said.

He said police used crowd control equipment to move on the youths — which could include throwing out smoke or loud noise – and there were a large number of spectators.

"They are groups of kids coming together. You can call them gangs ... But if you think of them as gangs it's not the way we tend to respond to them as they don't have the traditional thing that we think groups have," he said. "These are groups that use social media."

No one was arrested during the incident, however Mr Ashton expected some arrests would be made on Thursday.

Melbourne CBD and West Divisions Commander Tim Hansen said some of the youths were known to police and that two groups had initially gathered to fight at Watergardens Shopping Centre before moving on to Taylors Hill. It is believed up to 40 young people gathered at the centre.

"We had local police on the ground pretty quickly. Once we started to engage with these kids it looked like two groups have come together, there's a bit of pre-existing tension between the two groups and they had agreed to meet up there to have a fight," he told radio station 3AW.

"We take a zero tolerance approach to this behaviour and we're really disappointed with it.

"There is a cohort within that larger group that are known to us so we'll be moving through the western suburbs today at different times speaking to people," he said.

Premier Daniel Andrews said police responded with force, quickly and appropriately. But he said the incident would have been very distressing for residents.

Having a bit of a clash about girls? Police don't view them as gangs? They view them as groups who use social media?

What the hell is wrong about this?

Two gangs of Sudanese Australian youths warring over girlfriends, yelling 'police can't touch us', threw rocks and damaged a police car during an aggressive rumble in Melbourne's north-west.
South Sudanese community representative Maker Mayek said the "regrettable" incident could be traced back to a Facebook post flagging the fight.

"It was a very, very unfortunate situation and it's one that we as members of the community really do denounce," Mr Mayek said.

"No one should feel unsafe in their homes. I've seen people saying their children were terrified. This is an absolutely horrific thing to see.

"It's not the African community, it's not the Africans in general, these are young people from the South Sudanese community, and we want to make it clear no one condones their actions
."
Lack of action against these gangs of thugs is what fuels racism and fear against other African migrants who are probably model citizens just trying to get on with life here.
The rampage comes after Melbourne residents have voiced fears for their safety following a spate of recent break-ins from roaming gangs.

A number of terrifying incidents involving youths have also been filmed throughout the city in recent months, including one mass street party with around 1000 young people which ended in violence.

Meanwhile, African community leaders have hit back at accusations of a gang violence problem in Melbourne, saying they have resulted in racism and harassment for young African Australians.
This will continue to happen to innocent and law abiding migrant Africans because the police are a bunch of politically correct pussies down there.
Meanwhile, one resident told 9NEWS that people have begun stockpiling their own weapons to protect their families from similar incidents in the future.

"What do we do? Bolt all our doors?" he said.

"A lot of people even have their own weapons - I don't - but one day somebody's going to get hurt and it's not going to be good.
Yes they are GANGS! What's wrong with the police down there in Melbourne?

Vigilantism will be on the rise and innocents will suffer brought on by lack of police action and fear.

TERRIFIED passengers say a group of around 100 youths went on a rampage through a train in Melbourne’s southeast overnight.

They say train doors were being forced open by the mob at Paterson Drive in Lynbrook, before they allegedly screamed abuse and caused disruption after they were told to move on from a nearby park by police.

Victoria Police says officers were called to Banjo Paterson Reserve about 7.30pm when they heard reports of an assault.

“On arrival they found a large gathering of youths in a reserve next to the Lynbrook railway station,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said in a statement.

“The youths were asked to move on with the majority catching trains at the nearby station.

“No victims made themselves known to police and no offences were detected.”

She added the majority of the group were understood to be of African appearance.

Pictures surfacing on Facebook overnight show numerous riot squad vehicles parked nearby as well as a large number of police on foot.

No victims made themselves known to police and no offences were detected, police said.

Nearby residents said they were left terrified by the incident and say up to 100 youths gathered in the park as police officers arrived.

There were at least a hundred probably more of them, anywhere from 16-20 years of age, they were young and of Sudanese appearance,” one resident told the Herald Sun.

“They were hanging around the park. They were very loud, they were screaming and yelling and causing havoc.

“The locals would have been scared for sure.”

No offences detected? Give me a break. If it was a mob of 100 white boys rampaging and terrorising people you can bet there would have been arrests.

You mean like the Cronulla riots

Muzzos created trouble, harassing people at the station, sexually molesting young girls and just generally Being muzzos.

When the trouble started they all ran away
Just like the cowards they are and always will be.

Then they went out in packs and attacked anybody they could find.
Not one muzzo was arrested
Plenty of whites, but not one muzzo.

But at least the problem was fixed
The cowards won't go back because they are afraid that next time, they won't get it so easy.

Perhaps Melbourne needs some Cronulla boys to show them the ropes?
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

Typical of a troll, to suggest that vigilantism is the way to go. I wonder why you fail to mention the non-Muslim victims of your "Cronulla boys", Valkie? You know, the people of "Middle-Eastern appearance who were mobbed, punched, kicked and beaten up simply because they "looked Muslim", including IIRC an Israeli and a Brazilian. Funny how your vigilantism also stoned ambulances trying to evacuate Muslim mothers and children from their wrath. Real big men those vigilantes. Right? Tut, tut. Cowards, one and all. Couldn't take the Muslims on, one on one, had to have a mob to back them in their violence and hatred.
