I dont think penalty shootouts really prove your a winner tbh.....sheer bloody luck mostly.
yes, just toss a coin

so rude.... I just said it doesnt prove they are a winning team...... and it doesnt .....

pity we cant toss you!
So how would you decide on a winner?

Nicest hair, best acting ?

How about counting all goal shots which hit the bar as a half point?
( instead of zero points. )

You can't be serious. Should they do that in rugby and hockey too? In basketball when the ball bounces off the rim?

It would be fairer than a penalty shootout.

A penalty shootout doesn't take the skill of the whole team as a requirement.
Hitting the bar is a few mm from scoring a goal.

bobs I didnt say there is anything UNFAIR about penalty shootouts....

some were claiming Russia suddenly were contenders.... I said winning with a penalty goal kick doesnt mean you are that good...

why is it so bloody hard to work that out????>..

its like a Bradbury to me..... simples....

is there a FAIRER way...

how about all those players who fall down in the penalty area in agony... get set off for medical treatment for lets say at least 5 min..............would that stop a lot of the fakes do you think???????>...... who knows penalty shootouts might disappear all together..

Soccer is way too conservative with their rule changes over the years. It's a game that defines "gaming the system".

It needs to overhaul the offside rule, and diving. Diving is the essence of bad sportsmanship.

Hockey had an offside rule since forever. It was a constant point of contention, and was removed completely, and only made the game better, for players, umpires, and spectators.

Good idea bobby.

Use the 'near goals' just as a games decider instead of penalty shots?

During the game, if one side gets 2 goals and the other gets 1, the final score is 2 , 1. No 'near goals' are attributed ?

Or how about if it is a draw .........

both sides stand face to face without moving.
The last to faint wins.

Could only add to the true soccer atmosphere.
