If peoples' fate was totally left in the hands of one person the system would be even worse. I would hate to see a world where one potentially biased old fart held all of the power.
A jury keeps things a bit more balanced. At least 12 people talk it out before they make a decision.

the Higher courts have more than one judge black orchid....
every democratic country has a Higher Court.....and they are all judges..I cant think of anything that would be better...
12 jurors dont always agree.....
the thing about a judge he/she knows the LAW inside out.....those on a jury have almost no understanding of the LAw....
to have a jury means it was a criminal charge.......
I dont agree with the law on a lot of things... I would be no good on a jury.....
