Choices

Post by Auzgurl » Thu Nov 26, 2009 10:39 pm

I watched a film recently about a jewish/polish woman who was made to choose which child ( her son or daughter) had to die, when forced to choose by a German Officer, on a train journey to the concentration camp Auswitzch.

He told her she should choose because if she didnt he would kill both..she chose to keep her son, who died from illness in the camp later anyway. She later went on to kill herself.

I am thinking that would the single worst thing you could ever ask a parent to do, choose which child lived or died.

There are situations quite apart from that situation where some have to make this choice. A friends 2 young children were swept over board when he took them out on his charter boat..he jumped in but in the very rough conditions could only save one. He is now an alcoholic .

If this is too depressing let me know..I can put up my standard "tea or coffee- cat or dog thread"

Sophie’s Choice.

If I was caught in that helpless a choice (and we all can be) I would tell the bastards kill them both.

Kill me too.

I would tell the fucking bastard, "Iam God and you are man."

*If I could not put a knife in the fucker's gut that is.

I think I would feel the same Frogen, I would not want to live anyway if I lost a child, wether it be this way or any other way.

I do know that if I survived my child I would not rest until I had exacted my revenge in this situation.

Meryl Streep was excellent in this movie.

Currently here Holocaust is screening, I cannot bring myself to watch it, such a dark period of history.
