Is China Chucking a Wobbly?

Post by Black Orchid » Thu Apr 12, 2018 5:22 pm

Australia's bid to protect itself from espionage has sparked tensions with China, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has conceded.

PM responds to reports that Australia-China relations are strained, as evidenced by none of his ministers attending regular Chinese conference. He denies China refused visas to Australian ministers and says there has been tension, but it will be resolved.

The comments follow a report in The Australian in which former federal treasurer Peter Costello described the relationship between the two countries as "strained at the moment", citing the fact that Australian Government ministers are not attending a major conference on the Chinese island of Hainan.

The Boao Forum is held every April, and this year Chinese President Xi Jinping used it to deliver a major speech.

Mr Turnbull said the Government's plan for foreign interference legislation had sparked some misunderstandings.

"There's clearly been some tension in the relationship following the introduction of our legislation about foreign interference," Mr Turnbull told radio 3AW.

"But I am very confident that any misunderstandings will be resolved."

The Prime Minister denied China had refused to issue visas to any Australian ministers, and said there were "mischaracterisations" of Australia's foreign interference legislation in some of the Chinese media.

"The relationship is very deep and extensive, but from time to time there are differences of perception," he said.

"We have a very good relationship with China. I regularly correspond with both the Premier Li Keqiang and the President Xi Jinping.

"We have a very strong and respectful relationship with China and like any nation we do everything we can to ensure that any foreign influence in our politics is open and declared.

Malcolm Turnbull insists Australia has a "good, frank" relationship with China, but Communist Party mouthpiece The Global Times says it's time the country was taught a lesson.

The newspaper's editorial said it would make sense to cut Australian wine and beef imports to do a better deal with the United States.

"It is necessary for China to leave Australia hanging for a while, instead of being too quick to bury the hatchet whenever Canberra tries to put a smile on its face," the Global Times argued on Wednesday morning.

"China does not have to throw away Sino-Australia relations. China just needs to slow their relationship for a period."

The paper suggests an import reduction of between $6.45 billion and $10 billion a year would teach "arrogant" Australia a lesson, which other countries would follow.

It also says the prime minister doesn't have to visit this year, but instead can visit "in a few years", while ministerial visits should be slowed down.

But non-government exchanges should stay the same.

"Chinese students and tourists in Australia should not be bothered," The Global Times said.

Beijing is especially cranky about Australia's proposed foreign interference laws, following media reporting of Chinese influence in local politics.

"We have a good, frank relationship with China, it's a very strong one," Mr Turnbull told reporters on Wednesday.

"If Australia sincerely hopes that the relations between the two countries will return to the right track ... they must break away from traditional thinking, take off their coloured glasses, and look at China's development from a positive angle," Mr Wang said, according to a translated press statement.

Now we have an Australia Post outlet that ONLY sells baby formula and vitamins and sends packages to China only. Nowhere else!

Shouldn't it be renamed China Post?

Agreed!

China is preparing for regional domination.
They have no military personnel with combat experience so hope everyone kow tows without them having to fire a shot.
North Korea is their (focus) distraction while they militarise disputed Pacific territories.
If I was dictator I'd send the SAS in to capture those man made islands and all the hardware on them, then invite the legal owner nations to occupy them.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

More chucking from China ...
Tensions have overflowed at the APEC summit in Papua New Guinea, after a group of Chinese officials tried to force their way into a Minister's office.

Four Chinese officials barged into the office of Papua New Guinea's Foreign Minister Rimbink Pato on Saturday afternoon after being denied a meeting.

The ABC understands the Chinese Senior Officials Meeting negotiators wanted to meet with the Minister to discuss the wording of the APEC final communique.

When they were repeatedly denied a meeting they pushed their way into Mr Pato's office, calling out to the Minister for two minutes of his time.

Security was called to the office and the officials had to be forced from the room.

The officials eventually left of their own accord.

The incident has been detailed to the ABC by multiple, independent sources, however a Chinese official has denied it happened.
This is not the first instance of Chinese officials clashing with staff from the PNG Government.

Several officials from the PNG Government have complained about how the Chinese delegation has behaved during the visit, accusing them of "bullying".

Chinese officials denied the media access to a meeting between the Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pacific leaders, after the PNG Government had invited journalists to cover it.

Geopolitical tensions have been overshadowing this year's APEC summit, with the United States, Australia and China all battling for influence in the region.

US Vice-President Mike Pence and Mr Xi traded barbs during speeches on Saturday, with Mr Pence accusing Beijing of debt-trap diplomacy and Mr Xi warning the US against protectionism.

Later, Mr Pence announced plans for the US, Australia and PNG to redevelop a joint naval base on Manus Island, a move one analyst described as a "significant pushback" against China's strategic ambitions in the Pacific region

Former US secretary of state Hillary Clinton has warned Australia to be wary of Chinese interference in domestic political decision making.

"I think Australians need to be for Australians, Americans need to be for Americans, and whether it's Russia in a secret way interfering with our election and producing more than 3,500 ads to try to confuse our electorate, to try to damage me, or the Chinese looking to try to influence policy, we should say no," she told 7.30.

Whilst she is correct in the first instance, does she ever quit? Does she ever concede? Maybe she is a secret forum poster? :rofl

OK Lets see now;

we have around 25 million people in Australia

Around 15 million are children, too old to fight, disabled or criminal.

That leaves around 10 million.

Of those, around half are women a good percentage of who will not or cannot fight, say 4 million.

That leaves around 6 million able bodied persons who may be capable of fighting.

Now around 1/4 of those are in protected industries, in other words industries that need to make the weapons and such.

Down to around 4.5 million potentially able bodied persons.

Then you have the greenies, muzzos, and LGBTIQRAGGMOP persons who "wont fight because they are cowards"

Say 500,000 just to be fair.

down to 4 million.

Now we can probably find weapons for around 1 or 2 million if we try really really hard, mostly WW2 left overs.

We have around 80,000 full time soldiers who can instruct and teach the 2 million to do what they need to do.
But there will only be a certain number who can actually use a weapon and not kill themselves or their mates.

So.....best case scenario
we could muster around 2 possibly 2.5 million untrained people, armed with outdated weapons.
We have at best 45 days of fuel but could possibly take any vehicles needed off the public.
But without fuel, they would be stranded.
We have perhaps ammunition for around half of the combatants and with no real means to make more in a hurry would run out very quickly.

China could, at this moment, put 10 times that number of trained soldiers on our doorstep in a few days, say a week at most
They have the weapons, the ammunition, the people and the ability to take over Australia in less than a month.
By the time we realized it was an invasion, it would all be over.
Our pollies would still be arguing about pink uniforms and gender neutral field toilets.

The USA would not step in other than to huff and puff because China has NUKES and are mad enough to use them.

If China wants Australia, they could take it easy.
But why bother?
Australian politicians are virtually giving it away.
Australians are deliberately weakening our people with gender politics and PC stupidity
We even have enemies within that we cannot sort out.

The Chinese are laughing at us, and simply waiting to walk in and say, "Nee Ho, You are now part of China"
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

You forget the fact that Australia is of prime importance to the US in this region and the US would never let that happen. Never!

The problem is that our stupid politicians ARE trying to give Australia away to the Chinese hand over fist to line their own pockets and if the worst ever were to happen we would be screaming for the yanks to come and save us ... which they would.

If we ever were in danger the US would just take Port Darwin from the Chinese.

The main danger/threat to Australia and Australians are our ignorant, self aggrandising, pocket filling, pig troughing politicians and THEY are the ones we need to sort out.

DO NOT VOTE FOR THE MAJOR PARTIES unless they stand on policies to halt immigration and to stop selling out Australia to Asia!!
