That's so similar to my mother's .... might even be the same.

Did it come out of an ancient looking huge red book from the 70s?

My parents received it as a wedding gift.

Awesome recipes in this book, now out of print.

Any suggestions.... Having friends over for dinner on Friday night.

4 adults, 2-young kids.

Has to be nutritious, comforting, and not too expensive.

May have to make the kids something different.

Saw this on FB tonight and thought it looked nice ... and easy.

ONE BOWL APPLE CAKE

Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups sugar
2 heaping teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup oil
6 medium Gala or Fuji or Honey Crisp apples
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, mix the eggs, sugar, cinnamon and oil. Peel and slice the apples and add to mixture in bowl (coating as you go to keep apples from turning brown.) Mix together the baking powder and flour and add to the ingredients in the bowl. Mix well (best with a fork) until all of the flour is absorbed by the wet ingredients. Pour mixture into a greased one 9x13 or two 9″ round pans. Bake for approximately 55 minutes

Hmmm, sounds good, coconut and peanut butter.. I may have to nibble on your nutty balls Gordon. It might get the taste of John Smith's Italian meatballs out of my mouth. He told me he was going to make me a nice cup of tea but...
