Not in terms of firearms causing so much grief in society.
33,000 people per year is about 90 people per day or nearly 4 per hour -
about one person every 15 minutes dies from a gunshot in the USA.
Suicide rate in USA 2016 - guns - The suicide rate in USA was 13.26 per 100,000 people
Little difference. In Australia hanging played a large factor. Do we blame rope?
No - but we can spare a thought for the people who die every 15 minutes from gunshot wounds -
many of them murdered.

Death by firearm is not a good measure of mental health.
The USA has a rate of 11 times what we have in Australia.
Suicide has many causes... what we can draw though is that pressures in the modern world are roughly the same in some countries. But not all... Japan and France have higher suicide rates than Australia and the USA.
Not all suicides in the USA are by firearm BTW.

But it's just simply not safe to have firearms in a house.
Kids get them & shoot each other or their parents.
Drunken people pick them up & shoot
someone then don't even remember what they've done.
People pick up a gun during a heated argument and get so angry
they shoot another person on the spur of the moment
then spend the rest of their life in jail for one moment of madness.
Guns are bad news.
You're safer not having a gun in the house.
