Movies and "games" don't make people violent.
In fact many in the field of psychology think they are a release and ease tensions which may in fact build up and cause a violent outburst of one kind or another.

What movie did Jack the Ripper watch?

LOL
From one of my favourite TV shows...
Dr. Tony Hill: A cartoon? That's an odd choice.

DC Paula McIntyre: What's odd about it? If you show violence on TV it promotes violence.

Dr. Tony Hill: Oh yeah? What shows did Jack the Ripper watch?
The LW Prog PC mind police infect all institutions with their blathering. Disagree they simply ignore you, the facts, ridicule and slander you...

I agree that tv and/or game violence should be strictly monitored to children under 10 years old which is the age range the study concentrated on, 6-10. 6 years old? No way! My above comments were in relation to children 10-11 onwards.

Once kids get to high school they are exposed to it anyway through all their peers and they need to have adapted to it and found a comfortable balance to such things before then.

I didn't even let my kids watch the Simpsons and they have never forgiven me

The two studies I've posted in this thread disagree with you.
In fact many in the field of psychology think they are a release and ease tensions which may in fact build up and cause a violent outburst of one kind or another.
May I have a link to that?
What movie did Jack the Ripper watch?
I am not suggesting that all violence is caused by violent media - not by a long shot. But I'm suggesting that in the digital age, violent media can feed into real life violence.

So you agree that exposing children aged 6 to 10 years to violence can cause an individual to develop violent tendencies?

The two studies I've posted in this thread disagree with you. Then they are wrong.
In fact many in the field of psychology think they are a release and ease tensions which may in fact build up and cause a violent outburst of one kind or another.
May I have a link to that? No, too busy, but it should be easy enough for you to google stop being the sites new Aussie... go do your own research.

Prove it.... you'll get the Nobel prize. The Science says that only marginal people with existing problems are so affected. You can google that too.

@ Rorschach:

I responded:

Rorschachs response:

Sorry buddy but the burden of proof is to disprove them. They are not wrong just because that's what you "reckon".

Rorschach then made a claim:
In fact many in the field of psychology think they are a release and ease tensions which may in fact build up and cause a violent outburst of one kind or another.
Now listen up mate, and listen good. We've been down this road before. If someone posts what is well known, generally accepted news or material (such as saying "Trump is going to meet with that North Korean nutter") then no reference is required. But apart from that, if you make a claim, like you have above, the onus is on you, not me as the reader, to reference it.

Now get off your arse and lift your game.

I don't reckon anything.... I haven't had to debate this since John and brian were on D&R.... I'm not your lackey... do some research for yourself.

YOU are the one too lazy to get off their arse... stop making yourself look foolish stop behaving like Aussie.

Incidentally, because you always seem unaware of it, you personally attacked first:
No, too busy, but it should be easy enough for you to google stop being the sites new Aussie...
So it's game on Roach and you started it.

Now disprove my studies and get yourself a reference to your claim.

Just a quick google produces...

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/ ... tudy-finds
Long-term research into homicide rates and depictions of violence in video games and movies shows no significant relationship
https://www.goodtherapy.org/blog/violen ... ds-0414151
So pervasive is the idea that violent video games cause violent behavior that a 2010 survey found that 49% of adults believe that violent games can inspire some people to commit real-life atrocities. A study published in Psychology of Popular Media Culture undermines this claim, suggesting that violent video games do not increase violent behavior. Instead, the researchers argue, duration of play is what matters.
Now.... GET OFF YOUR butt and do some research yourself.
I think YOU are a armchair psychologist with very limited experience and absolutely no authority. :du

PS. I don't appreciate your ridicule and sarcasm. Especially when I post truthful information. So don't complain when you get the odd emoticon back in return for it. :hlo
