Free speech has never existed in Australia. Speech has always been been governed by laws controlling and the Government controlling the laws. We have an "implied right" to it but it doesn't actually appear in the Constitution.

The ARU acted according to his contract, which did restrain his right to speak his mind. If Falau cannot read a contract that he signed he is a fool.

Joyce is the boss at QANTAS. He can, basically dictate what his employees can and cannot say on the company's time, using the company's facilities, while wearing the company's uniform. I believe though, he cannot dictate their opinions on their own time. I am unsure why people feel the need to speak their minds on the Company's time.
