Bush Fires

You are actually supposed to get in the bathtub and wrap yourself in wet towels. You are not supposed to fill it with water first. One year when the bush fires surrounded me a woman jumped into her swimming pool with 2 kids and they all perished. You are definitely NOT supposed to jump into a pool. I think the oxygen gets sucked out of the air above the water and it becomes toxic.

we mustnt forget these people are in PANIC.....I do recall when some firies died in their truck it was suggested they have a way to get into their water tanks....not sure where that went....

as a bush fire country isnt it time we did better than we are?..

yes we certainly should be doing a whole lot better cods- educate pp who live in bushfire prone areas about the dangers and and issue them with equipment for in emergencies- ie oxygen tanks etc- I live in a very hot part of the country and moving to the mountains so tempting but the bush fire threat is real worry for me ! Not just tell them about getting out early but tell them why -so many ignore the warning and die in fires

I agree.... maybe not warning..... more like orders....go and now...

you know in NZ even the schools have.. what to do if an earthquake happens instructions up on the walls....it isnt taken for granted that they wont happen..its taken YES THEY BLOODY WILL HAPPEN....

and it should be the same here for bush fires...maybe we need to stop calling them BUSH fires.. because they take whole townships...

as you say people building in what used to be bush now has bitumen roads.. town water and wifi...it needs to be treated different to 50 years ago....

instead agnes we have two fire dept in NSW that dont get on with with each other........they fight while NSW BURNS>>

If you live in areas that could be prone to natural disasters you are a fool if you don't have insurance.

With the eartquakes in NZ a lot of pople were caught without cover and cried for the taxpayer to foot the bill,
