Winter garden beds and containers

Post by mellie » Thu Mar 22, 2018 8:36 pm

Any suggestions?

I'm partial to succulents, need something that can withstand a cold climate, similar to Tasmania.
Something colourful.

Central highlands Vic.

Cheers.

Ps, I think my choko vine is dead. :D

Was worth a shot.

Ah, The Grampians! My Scottish ancestors settled in Trentham/Daylesford in around 1852/55.

Frosts .. try Azaleas, I have lots of them in Canberra and they love the frosts and some flower Autumn AND Spring. Bulbs ... daffodils, jonquils and snowdrops ...

Chocos are pretty hard to kill. 8-)

Add Tulips to Nef's list.

EDIT: But if the Choco vine is ummm in a coma perhaps you should stay away from Tulips lol

I have a few bulbs Nef, I've been very busy with my little garden, proud of what I've achieved in just 9 month's, however wondering if this winter's frost will ...... make it rest/sleep like my choko vine.

My daughter named it chokie. Wince.

It's not much, we don't have much space, but will show u tomorrow.

Violets as ground cover ...

Oh and Camellias ....

Veges? Hardly worth the effort, maybe some parsley, chives and such in pots.

I put a few veg in myself every year and also arrive at the opinion that its not really worth it, The ones I have had good success with are broad beans, beetroot, french beans, pumpkins, silver-beet, and the odd potatoes
