Re: Is it time to #delete facebook?
Facebook - Be warned.....
I am in IT and have a FB account that I only use to stay in contact with family and very close friends.
I post nothing.
I like nothing.
I use the message feature to chat to them... but do not put anything I would be worried about
Rule number 1, do not post anything you wouldn't be happy seeing on the front page of the paper.
Rule number 2, do not post anything personal
Now I need to educate my kid to ensure nothing is put on her page when she gets one. Universities, employers ... cops, everyone looks and will judge you for the rest of your life. man if everything i did when I was young was on FB I would never have got a job.
Rule number 3, post nothing, and make sure your friends do not reference you in photos and their posts.
Wit hall the above you are ok, but in this age of posting videos ...etc and people linking you to stuff, if you are there you will be tagged and f..ked over at some point.
I hate it. I will continue to have a presence but will continue to be a nobody on FB.
WhatsApp is great.... i see not issue with it really..... but again, you need to consider it is not private like texts and know the authorities can get access if they need to.
Rule number 4, if you are going to be illegal or dodgy... don't post sh*t anywhere

People that post personal details on Facebook are just plain dumb.
Anything you post on Facebook about your personal life is then fair game for anyone to use about you.
No point whinging about your personal details being exposed when you do it yourself via social media.
If you don’t want your personal details shared, questioned, laughed at or ridiculed don’t post them on a social media account for all to see.

Wink, wink, nudge, nudge .... some people go into great detail about just how wonderful they are and tell everyone about it, on these Forums, and leave clues to their private life all over the Net.skippy wrote:People that post personal details on Facebook are just plain dumb.

It is normal in conversation to mention certain stuff, but actual bragging, constantly, for many, many years leaves a great paper trail, that people can (and do) find ... some people are more stupid than stupid and are too stupid to even own a computer and should get rid of it ASAP. No names, no pack drill ....

To be honest I couldn't care less if someone found mine. There is nothing there to see anyway except a lot of old pics.
The only pages I have 'liked' are the lost pets ones which, when I go there, I share.

My Facebook is only accessible by family and very close friends. Watertight.
Nothing special on my Facebook either, just a few pics and inspiration quotes ive liked from friends pages.
I gotta be in the mood for Facebook.
