Yes, you will drive your wife crazy if you sit around the house getting under her feet, Sprint.

I had a nice bloke who took early retirement and started mowing his neighbour's lawns, pruned, etc. Then some of them recommended him to friends, etc. and one of my neighbours knew one of those friends.

He was a carpenter by trade so did some handyman jobs too. He charged $50 an hour (cash in hand but had an ABN number) verbally quoted per lawn/job. It was well worth it. A few years ago he moved North so we no longer have him and the people we have retained since are no where near as good.

If you have a lawnmower and a trailer and time on your hands .... it would give you some pocket money and keep you out of your wife's hair.

A memorable comment I heard years ago when out west was "Don't leave it too late.'
One of our friends said it costs them $50K a year to live now they are retired.
They do live well.

Rubbish. Nobody I know spends $50K a year to "live" unless they travel extensively, First Class, and even then they could get "discounts". Your friend is boasting.

First, make sure your Mortgage (and credit cards) is paid off. Then all you have is Insurance and Maintenance on the residence. Upgrade the car/s before you retire, if necessary ... check to see whether you can get a discount on Registration, etc once retired. I presume you are talking Self-Funded ... Google and see what the current situation is.

Unless you still have teenagers/young 20s still living at home, making a hog or themselves ... you and your wife should have no problems, at all, with retirement. ENJOY IT and stop worrying.

yes, they do live pretty well. He is onto his 3rd landcruiser.


Many people will just buy a new knife. Those people are not allowed near my knives.
I have to find people who have nice knives or knives with a sentimental value.
