This is also the source of much Green Party philosophy by the way.

There's definitely an element of that.

But I think it's a bit rich, upon further consideration, of Morrow to cry about the secondary audience being the ones that drive public outrage. Shows like his (and many others, including most of those he mentioned in the lecture being recent outrage bus victims) actively court ignorant, public outrage as a method of advertising their art. They go out of their way to be offensive, knowing full well the implications of new media, as shown by Morrows own intimate knowledge of the domain.

I am going to throw my massive scrotum over the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference (say that 99 times) to save the planet.

I thought the 'Make a realistic wish foundation' skit was funny and that those outraged probably aren't happy unless they've got something to complain about.
I'm outraged that this country is becoming wanky wowser land where everything must be banned for the protection of high horse indignation. And there's too many phuking cooking shows. I hate cooking shows and it seems they're on every channel every day, sometimes 3 or 4 at the same time. Everyone seems to be bangin' on about obesity and/or being overweight and then we're bombarded with phat phuk recipe TV ... now that's offensive.

I agree too, and I thought his point about the "offended" was a very good one. It was a terrific lecture.

This morning I heard them on the radio and they said that Obama was the best black President the US has ever had and only a President as bad as George Bush could have made it all possible.

They said Obama mangled his oath of office as a tribute to Bush.

Now that's saying something! :p

Seriously though... I've started listening for the O word (no frogen, not THAT O word) in the nightly news since that lecture. My god, it gets used all the time.

Time to ban that word from the media, I think. They don't even have to back it up with anything.

It is amazing how the press love affair with Obama has stopped them from actually doing their job, you know, journalism.

For instance, in the very same week the press ooooed and awed about Obama taking his wife out on a date the French were livid at him because at a joint conference they wanted to make a group announcement that they had proof the Iranians had a secret nuclear facility other than the one subject to so much controversy.

Obama vetoed the announcement without explanation to the French (other than the usual
Obama vagueness about bad timing). The next day the French found out why, Obama made his airy fairy speech about the elimination of all nuclear weapons some day (no details, plans, realistic thoughts on the issue, just Obama and his addiction to the word hope).

The French were furious. (You know you are weak when the French think you are weak.)

So Obama helped make it far more likely one more nation gets a nuclear weapon just so he can make a nice speech about how he hopes nuclear weapons will be eliminated.

The French President latter made a statement questioning what had all Obama’s talking to the Iranians achieved? The first NATO open critcism of Obama's walk softly and carry a soft cock approach.

Yet few of the mainstream press reported any of this, instead it was all Obama on a date.

I think Sunrise went with a Britney Spears story.

Now if the media had done a story about Michelle giving the Prez a blow job that might have been more important news. Obama's soft cock diplomacy ends there.

Only Larry Flynt was brave enough to go with that story.
