dump to determinate = dump to deteriorate

For me it all depends on how they dispose of the waste.
Using a Synroc technique and burying it very deep - well below any water tables is quite safe.
see here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synroc
The greatest danger is actually the transportation of the radioactive materials to the waste dump.
What if a truck crashes?
What if the truck is hijacked by terrorists and dumped into the middle of a city?
Notice that such incidents are not covered by any home or industrial insurance policies
as the result has never ending unpredictable costs.
That's the problem.

Synroc is not 100% safe... not commercially available and still needs very long term storage facilities.
What we need is different technology away from Uranium based fission power.

It's still a lot better than just dumping it above the water table.
Uranium is water soluble.
On the other hand Thorium does not dissolve in water.
I want to see a research reactor in Australia using molten salt with Thorium.
The Chinese already have over 600 nuclear scientists working on such a reactor.

India and Australia have been working on Thorium Reactors for a long time too perhaps longer than China... and both have amongst the world's largest Thorium reserves.
Thorium reactors cannot meltdown.
Thorium reactors can use other reactor waste materials.
Thorium reactors produce less waste.
Thorium is more abundant than Uranium.

I thought it a better idea to send all those whining ABORIGINALS out into the Simpson Desert ... let them start again and CREATE something other than "dot paintings".
They could also drive the trucks with all that "waste material" ... if the Abos don't want to do it, how about inviting those INDIANS who ring up and tell you rubbish for $1 an hour ... $50 an hour to drive a truck would make them feel like MILLIONAIRES and they don't need clean water or toilets out there in the Simpson Desert, so IDEAL.

No they are not:
This video has a deceiving title -
it promotes Thorium.
