Gregory Davies sentenced to life for rape, murder of 6yo Kylie Maybury in 1984
The mother of a Melbourne girl who was raped and killed while out buying sugar says she can finally move on after her daughter's "monster" murderer was jailed for life, 33 years later.
Gregory Keith Davies, 75, raped, strangled and drugged six-year-old Kylie Maybury after luring her into his car in Preston on Melbourne Cup day, 1984.
Kylie's body was found the following day, dumped in a gutter just 650 metres away from Davies' Preston home, where he was living with his mother.
He was only arrested and charged in 2016, after voluntarily providing detectives with a DNA sample, which was a match to that found on Kylie's clothes.
Davies will serve 28 years in jail before being eligible for parole.
Outside court today, Kylie's mother, Julie Ryan, said she did not think she would live to see her daughter's killer sentenced.
"He's a monster, you can't call him anything else but that," she said.
"But you know what? It's all over now.
"My daughter and I can move on … we can all be together as one big happy family again."
Ms Ryan said she was pleased Davies was unlikely to ever be released.
"I'd like to kill him myself," she said.

The sad part is the prison system protect these arseholes!
They should be put in the general prison area where the crims would take care of them!

I know absolutely nothing about the prison system but have heard that paedophiles are kept separately from the rest of the prisoners? Why?
It would save the taxpayers lots of money if prisoners were able to dole out the well-earned punishment for a creep such as the above, and he would deserve every inch of it. The general public would undoubtedly cheer too!
This creep RAPED a little, innocent, 6 year old girl when he was 42! I wonder how many other children he has interfered with in the 33 years he has been running around, "free". Paedophiles can never be "rehabilitated" .... his punishment should be having to mix with his fellow prisoners ... they would soon sort him out!

sadly the news is those who got him would be penalised even more...I think he should be shunned he walks in everyone walks out,,
I dont know if there is such a thing as a punishment for this kind...but I do believe they should never be released... its a crime against everyone when they release these predators..we cant kill them and we cant turn a blind eye to others killing them..... but we can throw away the key..

I don't agree with capital punishment because the system cam make mistakes, A mistake that cannot be fixed.
However when it is really 100%, no doubt... no beyond reasonable doubt... kill the bastards.

Unlike all other criminals, these guys cannot be rehabilitated, it has been proven, so if there is no hope then they either spend the rest of their lives in jail or we kill them. Paying for a lifetime holiday camp is not something I like to fund but I would be prepared too if they are never to be released.
Simple. Some people just should be wiped off the planet one way or another.

I still remember 2 year old James Bolger's dear little face and I agree with the mother. It is a farce. At just 10 years old this POS brutally murdered and tortured poor little James and has since been charged with 2 pornography offences since his release and he gets just 40 months? Pathetic!!
Jon Venables - who murdered James in 1993 - was today found to be a continued 'high risk to children' after he was caught with sickening pictures of youngsters as young as two being sexually abused.
Arguing against a long jail term, Venables' lawyer said he 'asked to apologise' to James' family over the latest instance of his repeat offending.
But Mrs Bulger, who was in court for the hearing, rejected the apology. Her spokesman said: 'To go on to apologise, or offer some kind of apology, about the harm and hurt that his re-offending has caused is simply rubbing salt in the wounds.'
She slammed a 40-month term Venables got for possessing more than 1,000 child abuse images and a so-called 'paedophiles' manual', branding the sentence 'a farce' and adding: 'He will be leaving the court today believing he has got away with it.'
It is the second time Venables has been caught with child abuse material since he was freed from custody for James' murder. But he was kept anonymous on the court list after judges' ruled his new identity still cannot be revealed.
>snip<
'I have had stupid urges, inquisitive. I'm not going to be seeing this for a lot of years. It's not going to be a slap on the wrist for me.'
In a police interview, he admitted downloading the material from the dark web.
Probation experts found Venables has a 'long-term and profound interest in children' and is a 'high risk of real harm to children' in the future.
Why is this POS still being protected after 25 years and at least 2 more offences under his belt?
James Bolger
