Royal commission findings:
http://edition.cnn.com/2017/12/14/asia/ ... index.html
Of the survivors who reported being abused in a religious institution, 61.4% said it occurred in a Catholic organization.
In February 2017, the commission revealed 7% of Australian Catholic priests had been accused of abusing children inside religious institutions. In some orders, more than 40% of brothers were implicated.
There are 1.2 billion Catholics in the world.
If each one gives $1 per week to the church that's
$1.2 billion per week -
that's $62.4 billion per year of income - tax free!
and all for a product that doesn't exist - eternal life in heaven -
something where no one has ever claimed a warranty or guarantee
as there's no such thing.
At least they'll have money to pay the compensation
which I hope is in the 10s of $billions.

ALL 'institutions' breed abuse and I am glad it is being addressed but the main thing with the Catholic church is that priests should NEVER have to commit to celibacy.
It's unnatural and nothing good will ever come from a feigned 'promise' of celibacy.

All priests should have to be married to a woman by church law.
That might help to stop it.

They do not need to be married. They should just not be forced to take a ridiculous vow of celibacy.

and so many women turning a blind eye...it still goes on...
the church has been well and truly exposed... and it will cost them dearly as it should...
but what compensation will all those who come to the same harm living in their own homes get????
will they get a Royal into child abuse??????
half the in stitutions named in this Royal do not exists anymore....
but abuse of children in their homes is still alive and well..

That vow never worked anyway.
