Banning the burqa will not technically stop crime, of course, but having people near you in public places covered from head to toe is disconcerting nonetheless. We cannot wear motor cycle helmets in public place so others, for any reason, should not be allowed to do so either.

I do not care what they wear in Islamic countries but there are many reasons to ban it in western countries and it is mind boggling that you never hear a peep from feigned hypocritical 'feminists' about this dehumanising of women. They are way too busy just trying to demean men.

1. Anyone who says a woman chooses to completely cover herself like this is delusional.

2. It covers up domestic abuse. Countries where the Burqa is commonly worn also have higher rates of domestic violence. In Afghanistan 87 percent of women reported experiencing domestic violence. In Pakistan that number goes as high as 90 percent. Domestic violence is also a major problem in Saudi Arabia.

3. It justifies sexual assault on women who choose not to wear it and the wearing of it is often enforced through violence.

4. Community participation. It prevents an entire gender from participating in society as identifiable individuals.

5. It discourages assimilation and encourages segregation. It is designed to dehumanise women outside the home. It imposes the norm for countries dwelling in the 7th century onto the streets of London, Sydney etc.

If those aren't good enough reasons to keep it out of western civilisation I don't know what is. I find it hard to believe that any normal person wants to keep welcoming this into our country.

bullshit

there is no law stopping you from wearing a bike helmet in a public place. The only places you cannot wear helmets are when you enter a bank or a petrol station. They are PRIVATE property, not public, and they are rules set aside by the property OWNER, not the law.

OK well technically not public places but if everyone walked around in full face bike helmets how long do you think it would be before there WAS a law prohibiting it? Or if everyone decided to walk around in balaclavas or masks? Do you really think this would be accepted and/or acceptable?

Police are already petitioning various states to make it illegal unless a person has a valid reason to cover their face in public.

Perhaps that should be the new passive demonstrative approach. Everyone gets a mask or balaclava and wears it in public as they go about their day.

I have seen signs on Bank windows stating "No Bike Helmets". Who actually goes to a Bank these days? Robbing Banks went out when the Internet arrived, didn't it? :?

I know Muslim females who don't even wear the "scarf". Why would they want to cover themselves with just their eyes showing? WHO is making them do that?

Plus, again, WHY are they required to cover their HAIR and still pile makeup on with a trowel?

if everyone wore a burqa you might have a point. Since they don't, you don't.
