I dont believe its just luck.
Drinking , smoking, exposure to environmental chemicals lack of exercise and bad diet is going to put you at more risk.
Forget the one up exceptions.
Also exposure to some carcinogens by your parents, grandparents can also increase your chances of cancer.
Some quite natural products are also carcinogenic, so forget the hippie rainbow farts as well.

I blame it all on Global Warming. During an Ice Age the germs can't possibly survive.miketrees wrote:I dont believe its just luck.

Cannabis oil extract with a very high THC content does kill cancer cells. But smoking weed does not.

I'm sorry if I worded that wrong yes the oil of course- when my cat had cancer I was looking into ways I could produce some for her- some of the methods sounded dodgy and others unfeasible to me- I didnt lnow where to get my hands on the very select strain of weed to do start with - nor any other strain- my poor kitty was riddled with cancer and thousand of dollars later could ony buy her a few more months in the form of tumour removal- I think smoking weed does in fact cause lung cancer- so it is not the harmless drug everyone thought it once was-AiA in Atlanta wrote:Cannabis oil extract with a very high THC content does kill cancer cells. More here:CANCER patients often wonder “why me?” Does their tumour run in the family? Did they try hard enough to avoid risks like smoking, too much sun or a bad diet?
Lifestyle and heredity get the most blame but new research suggests random chance plays a bigger role than people realise: Healthy cells naturally make mistakes when they multiply, unavoidable typos in DNA that can leave new cells carrying cancer-prone genetic mutations.
How big? About two-thirds of the mutations that occur in various forms of cancer are due to those random copying errors, researchers at Johns Hopkins University reported Thursday in the journal Science.
Whoa: That doesn’t mean most cases of cancer are due solely to “bad luck.” It takes multiple mutations to turn cells into tumours — and a lot of cancer is preventable, the Hopkins team stressed, if people take proven protective steps. Thursday’s report is an estimate, based on a math model, that is sure to be hotly debated by scientists who say those unavoidable mistakes of nature play a much smaller role.
But whatever the ultimate number, the research offers a peek at how cancer may begin.
And it should help with the “why me” question from people who have “done everything we know can be done to prevent cancer but they still get it,” said Hopkins’ Dr. Bert Vogelstein, a pioneer in cancer genetics who co-authored the study. “They need to understand that these cancers would have occurred no matter what they did.”

Apart from the fear of "getting cancer" that people have, the other fear is of getting Alzheimers, and not knowing who you are, less alone who others are and still being alive.
I think that "dying in your sleep" is what most people would choose, if they could.
You know as long as it is caught early there is a VERY high survival rate for people who get Cancer in the United States.
In the past Breast Cancer might as well be a death warrant but now most people easily survive breast cancer.
New Gene Therapy in the U.S. has changed the way we treat cancer and as well we are currently in the middle of NANO-BOT TRIALS as tiny Micro-Robots are injected into a tumor as they target and destroy ONLY the cancer cells.
It is INSANE that some people make the mistake of buying and taking various over the internet natural cures as they are neither regulated nor are they properly studied to determine exact dosage or viability for actually helping.

I don't know anybody, personally, who has died from breast cancer, I do know several survivors who are now in their 90s who had breast cancer when they were in their early 60s. Isn't it the young females who tend to die from breast cancer and hasn't it been proved that it runs in families .... i.e. Mother had breast cancer so daughter/s are more likely to get it?Warrior wrote:

The worst cancer is still Pancreatic cancer. Even with the Whipple procedure and massive amounts of chemo or radio, they still die. My sister lasted 18 months but she was extremely determined (her words), mostly people with Pancreatic cancer can barely survive 6 months.
Next cancer is Lung cancer and even non-smokers (people who have never, ever smoked) can die from this. I have known many people who have died 5-6 months after being diagnosed with lung cancer, including my father and a dear male friend.
I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy (of which I have none).
The thing is, WHY haven't "they" figured out how to stop cancer? Enormous amounts of Government funds are allocated to Cancer Research.

One of the main reasons they have not yet developed a Genetic Cure for all cancers and that IS the way to do it.....is because the damn religious right in the U.S. put research back over a decade when they would not allow new stem cell lines to be grown.
Thankfully that problem is solved as we can grow stem cells from any living human cell now but it was sad to see Nancy Reagan BEGGING the Religious Right to open up stem cell line growth while her husband President Ronald Reagan was dying from Alzheimer's.
