A bit of real chatting, just to kick the chatroom off.

In 1992 a niece gave me a chihuahua puppy (young dog really, she was 6 months old.) Nice getting a free dog. $400 to have her desexed, $500 to fence the backyard: Tiffany had a habit of running out front and on to the road to challenge German Shepherds or other big dogs passing :)

I took Tiffany (she was a redhead) to work pretty much every day. She would stay put except if I had to go out when she would follow me, usually then visiting the printing business on the ground floor where she was very welcome :) I took her to most clients. Picture the head of a big real estate agency playing with Tiffany :)

She was a very quiet dog, could put her in a shopping trolley or sports bag and she wouldn't move or make a noise. Sneaked her into a court once, a brief hearing re a slow payer I was chasing, no one noticed. One other time I was due to visit a client in an executive building, to give him some data CDs and a few lemons. Packed CDs and lemons, walked to the building, put Tiffany in the bag and into the building, up the lift, past reception and into the guy's office. Put the bag on his desk, opened it up (bag wasn't zipped up, of course) lifted Tiffy out, then the CDs and lemons. Guy was crying with laughter, tears running down his face when his phone rang and he had to hold a phone conversation doubled up with laughter. Never seen anything funnier :)

By Dec 2006 poor old Tiffy was blind and suddenly dehydrated. took her to the vet for what I knew was a one-way visit for Tiffy. Cried like a baby once out the animal hospital. Bloody animals!

Every time I see a chihuahua I want to have one again. Not while Demi is around, I guess.

Chihuahua are little dogs, but they are ALL dog. The most sociable breed I guess, bred to be a lapdog.

When I hear about those little rat dogs, all I can think of is the Paris Hilton, South Park episode, where dog after dog committed suicide to get away from the droop eyed, freak.
"But you will run your fluffy bunny mouth at me. And I will take it, to play poker."

rat. . .yeah I only heard that a million times

chi's get unfairly maligned mainly because most chi owners are fatuous fuckwits and turn their great little dogs into neurotic yappers. Good god, When I had to work on Saturdays I would take Tiffy with me. Lunch time we would walk up Flinders St and into the parklands and head south, then enter Halifax St. There I met some stupid old dame, her chi ate what she did. Poor mutt was 7.5Kg in weight, could barely manage to waddle a few yards before collapsing. Tiffy was 2.5Kg, a good weight for a chi!

Ternterfield terriers, a smidge bigger than a chi are also very nice little dogs.

On the other hand we have dickwads with tiny backyards that keep Shephers, pit bulls etc, never exercise them and when these dogs can escape they rip a kid's face off. The dog gets destroyed but really the stupid owner should be destroyed along with the dog!

After Tiffy had to be put down we waited a few months then started visiting the pound to find a new puppy. Looking through their website one day I saw a brilliant young red heeler. Beautiful dog, but a working dog, not one I could exercise enough esp with my dicky hip. Eventually we were there and Demi was the only puppy they had and that was that. But god that heeler was a beautiful dog.
