As for the drugs, that is totally suss.... how many headphones did she think she was carrying? How big were they supposed to be?
Apparently the police were tipped off as well...
Too busy to bother rereading

The US Drug Enforcement Agency tipped off Colombian authorities to their suspicions about an Australian woman potentially smuggling drugs out of the country before Cassandra Sainsbury was arrested at Bogota international airport, according to reports.

The last-minute purchase of a plane ticket in Hong Kong for the Adelaide woman to travel to Colombia via London was a red flag that raised the suspicions of US drug authorities, who alerted their Colombian counterparts
So she was in Hong Kong yet went to Columbia and bought head phones?

At least the boyfriend wasn't silly enough to go with her.

It may well be that this young lady is innocent of all charges and in her youth and willingness to make a quick dollar has found herself in serious trouble. On the other hand is the thought that she knew exactly what she was doing and was prepared to be a drug mule and make some serious money transferring Kilos of misery to the world's young men and women. I think the second scenario is probably true.

What we can be thankful for is that this hideous drug that destroys so many young people is off the street and hopefully will be destroyed and not repacked to tempt another person flying out with the offer of a few dollars to carry headphones.

The Young always think "it won't happen to me".

We were ALL young and naive, once upon a time, and thought that we were invincible and we didn't think about danger, strangers in bars, walking home, alone in the dark, or whatever.

I was lucky, I never met anybody who was into "drugs" when I was young. I do recall my Father telling me to refuse cigarettes at parties. I had no idea what he was talking about. I had my first Peter Stuyvesant, aged 23, the first drink was when a friend and I went for a weekend at my Uncle's place ... we were 21 and allowed to have an alcoholic drink. I've forgotten what is was but it was NOT beer. Something in a long glass and I was NOT impressed.

My thing was guys with sports cars and SPEED ... driving fast. :rofl

Anyone recall the Chika Honda case in Australia in the early 1990's. I hadn't been in Japan long then and it was big news. I am still not convinced they were guilty of smuggling drugs and the Australian legal system may have gotten it wrong.

I have no memory of that at all...and yes it does sound possible......its very unusual fro Japanese to be caught with drugs isnt it?..
these people that do this.. [ set up mules] are so cunning...just how can you prove it????.. whats the old saying..

finders keepers.. if its on your body or your luggage that you packed it is what it is...

I still have to ask what the hell was a 22 yr old pretty aussie girl doing alone in Bogota??>.

even in Hong Kong and London...ALONE??... she doesnt look like a backpacker.

I don't recall the Chika Honda case either but you would have to think it was a bit suspect if some random person gave you new luggage. I pack my own cases and then lock them!!

As for Sainsbury, I read this morning that she fled Adelaide owing a massive debt in relation to her failed gym which makes her claims of innocence even more spurious.

Sounds like Schapelle Corby all over again.

Personal trainer? ... I imagined a personal trainer would be fit .. those arms look a bit flabby for a fitness coach to me.

Trying not to judge (guilt) I won't throw any stones ... maybe she is just naive/stupid/a dope, but the "headphones for presents for her wedding party" doesn't tally with me ... I thought you were supposed to receive presents at such events ... but then I never got married, so maybe I'm just out of date.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?
