Would a goat wander off completely?
From what I'm led to believe, yes.

In the last few years I've found 2 dead goats while hunting. 1 was just the skin and skull of a large billy along a creek, and the other a complete kid near a dam that'd just been killed by feral dogs/dingos just prior my arrival with my own dogs.
When I bought Ratchet I asked the breeder if he'd lost any goats. He had, but apparently the dead ones I found had escaped from another nearby neighbour.

Debbie cried me a river ... through my camp site ... I'll get over the sludge.
Got off pretty light though, compared to the Xmas 2010-2011 New Years flood and early 2013 flood.

Dam's over flowing ...

The creek down the back is usually 3ft wide dry sand ...

Australia!

MY COUNTRY

The love of field and coppice
Of green and shaded lanes,
Of ordered woods and gardens
Is running in your veins.
Strong love of grey-blue distance,
Brown streams and soft, dim skies
I know, but cannot share it,
My love is otherwise.

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror
The wide brown land for me!

The stark white ring-barked forests,
All tragic to the moon,
The sapphire-misted mountains,
The hot gold hush of noon,
Green tangle of the brushes
Where lithe lianas coil,
And orchids deck the tree-tops,
And ferns the warm dark soil.

Core of my heart, my country!
Her pitiless blue sky,
When, sick at heart, around us
We see the cattle die
But then the grey clouds gather,
And we can bless again
The drumming of an army,
The steady soaking rain.

Core of my heart, my country!
Land of the rainbow gold,
For flood and fire and famine
She pays us back threefold.
Over the thirsty paddocks,
Watch, after many days,
The filmy veil of greenness
That thickens as we gaze ...

An opal-hearted country,
A wilful, lavish land
All you who have not loved her,
You will not understand
though Earth holds many splendours,
Wherever I may die,
I know to what brown country
My homing thoughts will fly.

This is Roxy. A bloke at work (back on citrus ATM) gave her to me.
She supposedly a 12 month old Catahoula (American Indian hunting dog),
although I suspect she's got some English Mastiff in her.
I'm under the impression Catahoulas have green or blue eyes, or one of each [harlequin] like Siberian Huskies.
Roxy looks like she has brown eyes, but up close it's brown with blue grey in the centre.

Don't really know much about the breed, so just looked it up >

She looks like she needs "love" and attention. You are good with animals so she will be OK.

Spoke with the bloke who bred Roxy.
Turns out she's 18 months old, and my suspicion about her having English Mastiff in her was on the mark.
Her father is half Mastiff.

Hoping to take her out for cattle proofing over Easter.
Gotta cattle proof your dogs, otherwise cow cockies won't let you hunt their patch, or they (the dogs) get shot.

Just means teaching your dog/s not to chase/harass cattle ... ideally, like I can with my red dog, you can skitch the dog onto cattle and call them off. Meaning I can use him to herd cattle or ignore them. When I was hunting Fred (cattle dog) and Gemma (pig dog) together I had it so if they came across cattle they came back to me. The advantage of this is I don't even have to see the herd to know there's cattle ahead.

Training/teaching of cattle proofing varies from dog to dog, depending on temperament, intelligence and obedience.
Typically I'll take them into a paddock with cattle. If they show aggression toward the cattle, call them back.
If they fail to return on command they're put on a lead, the hunt/freedom's over and we go home.
Most dogs pick it up reasonably quickly because they enjoy the freedom to run unleashed.

As mentioned in another thread, a neighbour who's just finished paying off the $120K for his block, hasn't paid his land rates for 3 years, so with 11% interest plus bullshit council adds ons the council hit him up for $10K

He couldn't pay, knew he would lose his block, so gave away whatever friends wanted on his block.

2 tractors, 2 trucks, a Bobcat, a Cadillac, a bus and a heap of building materials (steel roof trusses, steel RSJ beams, steel C sections, roofing iron ect) were relocated to my block.

Thursday the 6th came and the block was auctioned off. Get home from work Friday the 7th and in rolls a cop car.
The buyers claimed I and Co had stolen the vehicles ect.

I explained "I don't need to steal" ... "They've (buyers) probably gone there before the auction, seen all this stuff and thought they were going to get it. Well Ian gave it away".

Cop accepted my explanation but had to verify it ... no worries ... all turned out OK.

Now I hear they (buyers) have complained about tool boxes full of tools gone.
The Life & Death MC sgt who lives directly opposite and Custard Gut's junky mate Benny Fables have been breaking into and pilfering from sheds and dongas on that block since 2014. And the only way these new owners (buyers) could have known there were tool boxes in the locked rear of an old Bedford truck (we left behind) is if they were involved in the break ins.
Someone had put a ladder up against the rear of the Bedford and gained entry by slashing the canvas tarp covering the tray.
While relocating the vehicles there was a massive (at least 10ft long) brown snake in the rear section of the Bedford.

These characters (whoever they are) got a $120K block for peanuts and are upset because they didn't profit from someone else's misfortune as much as they imagined they would ... Too bad, so sad .. they can eat my shit!
