Coalition in Turmoil - Arise Sir Tony

Post by Wayne » Fri Feb 24, 2017 1:03 pm

On one Hand:

"Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has accused Tony Abbott of undermining his government as the Coalition enters damage control following the former PM’s scathing critique of the government and reports he told Cory Bernardi he hasn’t given up hope of a return to the top job."

On the other Hand:

Tony Abbott has defended his scathing critique of the government, saying he was not “taking pot shots” at his colleagues and Malcolm Turnbull had his “full support”.

“My duty as a former party leader is to try to ensure the party and the government stays on the right track. Obviously we’ve got to have a clear direction and strong purpose for the rest of this term of parliament,” Mr Abbott told Nine News.

“I’m not in the business of taking pot shots at my colleagues. My colleagues can say what they think is best but I’m in the business of trying to ensure that our country and our party are going forward.”

Does this Government have any idea whatsoever what they are doing? /sarc on It's time for Julie Bishop to rise to the challenge and take these dolts on /sarc off How can any one have any respect whatsoever for Australia when we have this mob of incompetents openly whining about each other? At least with Rudd/Gillard?Rudd it was all behind closed doors and executed quickly - this mob are dragging it out like a soap opera saga. Mal needs to do something - and quickly!

You can't seriously believe your little fantasy fest there about Rudd and Gillard?

It must have been a very painful time for you if you had to construct a false narrative and continue to use it to protect your delicate psyche. 8-)

Think back a bit IQ. The execution of Rudd then Gillard was quick and merciless. Sure, the papers were on to it, but no one was destabilising publically from the benches. This thing with Abbott has been going on constantly since Turnbull knifed him. It will continue to go on unless Turnbull either calls a leadership spill - which he will comfortably win - or Abbott is removed. There is no one to take Turnbull's place and, if you can believe the public comments by Pyne, bishop, cormann and others - Abbott is done and dusted

Again, you have constructed a narrative in your head because the facts must be too painful for you.
Rudd leaked constantly from the side lines from the day Gillard knifed him right through until the short time he managed to get back into the chair when attend last minute the ALP realised that Gillard was a toxic turd so hated by the voters they were facing a complete wipeout.

You also seem to forget the conga line of ALP ministers rolled out to give the truth about Rudd being a psychopath and then suddenly he turned into their saviour :rofl
That was just before Abbott smashed the ALP 8-)

It must have been traumatic for you... :(

Of course all of what you have written is true except you missed out one vital word - PUBLICLY. Gillard's knifing of Rudd and Rudd's knifing of Gillard was carried out within the confines of the caucus room. Everyone suspected Rudd of leaking crap about Gillard - but no one could prove it. No minister from the Labor Party ever PUBLICLY criticised the Leadership of the party nor the direction the party was taking. That's the difference - Abbott is airing all the Coalition dirty Laundry right out there in public and has been doing so for 18 months since he lost out. He needs to be neutered - but no one seems to have the balls to do it. However, if Labor win the next election, there may be a place for Abbott again as the Coalition attack dog - but I doubt he would, or will ever be PM again

PUBLICLY
Of course Kevni snuck around leaking to the media which is far ore damaging because unlike your false narrative, it dragged on for most of Gillard's tenure.

Thanks for proving my point. 8-)

I have to agree with iQ about his, Labor were just as messy under the Rudd Gillard fiasco.
That said the coalition are screwed. Turnbull is a lame duck PM, Abbott can never recover after yesterday. Abbott will go down fighting and take Turnbull, Bishop and Morrison with him out of spite.
Labor are just as screwed under Shorten he will be/is a disaster as leader too.
I can not name one person in parliament worthy or capable of leading Australia after the dust settles.
This is going to end in tears for us all.

Put it this way, a coalition under Turnbull has no chance. The base will drift to ON, Bernardi etc and quite possibly split the Nats from the Libs.
Abbott can consolidate the base (he's done it before) and stop the drift to the minors and keep the Nats in the tent.
