Prison farm mooted for Alice

16 Oct/2009

The politician with the balance of power in the Northern Territory wants Parliament to look at building a prison farm in Alice Springs ...
Independent Member Gerry Wood has moved a motion in Parliament asking the Government to look at building a farm for low-security prisoners.

The motion will be debated in the Alice Springs sittings of Parliament next month.
Gerry Wood says a prison farm would have advantages for prisoners and the wider community.

"It will create not only employment for prisoners, but I think it also helps local industry who have to supply the prison farm with the normal things that prisons need to keep going," he said.

"I think it'd just be good ... for the central Australia region."

Farming the desert/ What a dream! Errr what a nightmare! With AGW steadily reducing rain and increasing daytime temperatures.

I bet Gerry has similarities with Baldrick :)
