Re: Storage-Batteries and Supercapacitors
Whichever of you (Rawsack or SN .. didn't pay enough attention) who wrote this sort of technology will kill off the (mains power) electricity companies/industry is spot on.
I figured 20 years ago or more that as decentralised power from PV panels and mini wind turbines on rooves becomes common place, the power companies won't bother maintaining the grid, and large sections of it will fall into decay. And that seems to be what's happening and why state govts are so keen to off load these assets come liabilities.
Now what would you say if I told you I've designed (but not yet built) a mechanical device that acts as a motor producing kinetic energy and generating electrical current with no external energy input?
You'd say I was mad hey?
One character said "You can't defy the 2nd law of thermodynamics"
And I replied "My invention is not thermal"
I won't give you all the details, but I will tell you how I worked it out.
When I was 17 I dreampt up the basis of the original concept, which relies on magnetic repulsion (as used in the Japanese Bullet train and the Spanish invented Mag-Lev turbine). The difference being the magnetic repulsion is used for the propulsion itself, rather than a component that allows the propulsion.
When I tried to build it suffered from magnetic lock, just like you get in conventional electric motors. Because I was copying the straight up and down configuration you'd see in alternator stators.
In my mid 20s I saw an article about a Japanese inventor who designed and built electrical motors than only require 20% of the electrical input of that needed by conventional motors. His trick was he angled/slanted the magnets.
In my 40s I bought one of those "shaker" torches/flash-light. I was fascinated and wanted to know how it worked. It has a cylindrical permanent magnet (neodymium-iron-boron) which passes through a copper coil along a tube when shook, a much smaller electro magnet up front of the tube, a capacitor, a resistor to slow the current and an LED bulb. That's it.
As you shake the torch, the rare earth magnet steals electrons off the electromagnet and dumps protons. Now there is an imbalance. The electrons and protons want to go home to reach *equilibrium.
As the extra electrons in the rare earth magnet move through the air in the tube back towards the electromagnet they're picked up by the copper coil and run through the circuit before being allowed home back to the electromagnet.
And from that came my epiphany. For my device to function I had to prevent the electrons reaching equilibrium. Which is all about design, and that's the secret bit.
For obvious reasons.
When I eventually build it, I'm probably going to be denied patent rights because patent clerks are very inventive or insightful, so I'll register a design first (much cheaper - $90 as opposed to $3600 going on 2007 prices), video record the device in use, and go public via media (not public company for investment) as a life insurance. Because I reckon the power company execs would see this as the disrupter of all disrupters and have me put in a coffin.

If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

You need to learn how the URL function works in this Forum.
1. copy the URL
2. highlight it
3. click the URL thingie
If you prefer to do it manually, you need at the beginning and at the end. Check what is wrong with your URL above.

Thanks Nef, I am using the world's most ancient windows based laptop at the moment - my beloved MAC lappy is in for repair at the moment. I selected the URL function then pasted the address into it but for some reason it buggers up, Bear with me please!Neferti~ wrote:Dear Wayne,Wayne wrote:Yogi, You may be interested in this guy's work.

You lying bag of crap! The concept of the linear motor was introduced in the early 60s and was the brainchild of Professor Eric Laithwaite. He wondered what would happen if he were to cut through the stator of a 3 phase motor and lay it out, what would happen when he applied three phase power. what he discovered is that the magnetic field would now become a travelling wave and by placing stators together and applying basic switching, he could produce a field that travelled and could support a metal weight. THAT was the basis of linear propulsion and also the precusor of the electric rail gun that is now fitted to the USS ZUMWALT and forms the main part of their weapons platform. That concept was formulated in the early 60s when you weren't even a two headed sperm in dad's bag.
When I tried to build it suffered from magnetic lock, just like you get in conventional electric motors. Because I was copying the straight up and down configuration you'd see in alternator stators.
Once again Laithwaite solved that decades ago

Laithwaite again!

don't you think it is more of a fact that the magnetic field of the magnets is inducing electrons into the copper wire as it is shaken thereby producing voltage and current flow? Like the principle of an alternator or generator? You honestly think a cheap chinese shaker torch uses rare earth magnets REALLY?

What an absolute post of unmitigated CRAP! I am almost tempted to send this to a Professor at RMIT who specialises in Electrical Rotating Machinery to give him and the rest of the faculty a laugh. The bit about the rare earth magnets and stealing electrons is a classic.

You are welcome, Wayne.
This Forum is totally different to what is at OzPol. It has nothing much to do with what sort of computer you are using ....
You need to paste the address THEN highlight it and select the URL function. I also recommend that you use the PREVIEW function to check that it works before hitting the submit button.
I find that when typing certain words get changed ... grrr ... so it is to your own benefit to PREVIEW your post before you SUBMIT. I think you might have ONLY 10 minutes to change stuff here ....

Before, he asked for my consent - not like a dirty asian rapist like your good good self who just pushes it in anyway. Stick to the thread Chinky, this is about a low life claiming others work as his own. Stick to your normal job as a bowel screening test and you'll be fineIQS.RLOW wrote:Did he tell you he was a "professor" before or after he inserted it into you?I am almost tempted to send this to a Professor at RMIT who specialises in Electrical Rotating Machinery

I see you're one of those "tolerant leftists" who is actually a rabid racist. That seems to fit the DNA profile of a leftist.Wayne wrote:Before, he asked for my consent - not like a dirty asian rapist like your good good self who just pushes it in anyway. The KKK were also a leftist organisation.
Nazis are your brothers in arms.
