The Chamberlains and the dingo story

Post by mantra » Tue Jan 10, 2017 7:27 am

Michael Chamberlain has died. Lindy hasn't been in the news for a while and her health mightn't be great. She's had a tough life, but she always seemed resilient. The condemnation and ridicule that she's been subject to for so many decades would have hardened her.

Most Australians did believe the media at the time, but what an injustice. She took her eye off her baby and a wild dog grabbed it. Today that tragedy wouldn't even warrant a charge.

The outback can be scary at night - especially camping. I bet she wasn't keen to go especially with a 9 week old baby and a couple of toddlers. Will this story ever rest? I feel sorry for the sons. The Chamberlain name will probably always evoke speculation .

They were a weird couple, that only compounded the problem of their believability.
DOLT - A person who is stupid and entirely tedious at the same time, like bwian. Oblivious to their own mental incapacity. On IGNORE - Warrior, mellie, Nom De Plume, FLEKTARD

Everything about the Chamberlains was/is weird.

Only the good Lord knows what really happened that day.

I have to admit when this story broke and having seen Lindy on the TV I thought they were guilty. Sad events really considering that it is highly improbable they did do it and it took so long for them to be cleared. They just seemed so far from normal and the distrust around their religion/cult added to the distrust.

The only good thing from all this was a string of baby jokes that went around for years.

I would hate to ever be in their position. Losing a child and no-one believing it wasn't you. Doesn't get worse than that.
