There's a mentality about some owners where as long as they feel safe - they don't have to give a thought to anyone around them.
For the same reason, they forget their kids in their cars. Bloody stupidity! When you have ANY child in your care, you need to pull your finger out and do your job ie keep them safe at all times.

Kids are sooo vulnerable and powerless, they rely and trust you for everything. You have to do everything you can to never ever breach that trust.

Fatigue is no excuse either. Grab a strong coffee/organise yourself and your time better/put up your had and ask for help. Kids come 1st! Always!

Bottom line? You have to be child focused at all times. It's a tough gig. That's why I'm a full time house wife/mum. My life's pretty much on hold. But the health and safety of the family ie the kids....is far more impt to me than my career path and the salary package I've foregone. Priorities <----- I don't think people stop to REALLY think about these anymore. It's frustrating to stand by and watch.

I remember a set of traffic lights in Sydney that gave a car about 5 seconds to make a right hand turn...usually at least 5 cars waiting to turn
Most bureaucrats haven't had any previous education or experience in the subject when they're given a portfolio. It's all trial and error. I don't know about Canberra, but Sydney is a cluttered mess. Maybe long term it will improve.

The road design in my area is pretty simple. There are only a few traffic lights and lots of roundabouts, which seem to work well.
Sydney is indeed a cluttered mess Cods.

You need to be hyper vigilant on the roads at all times.

Sorry about the title as I didn't read all the posts at the time. Arms were flapping!

One of the biggest problems in Sydney is that many people on the roads cannot even speak English. If they can't speak or read English how can they understand the signs and be even mildly capable on the roads? There was a news segment on last year where the journalist was stopping Asians (in a highly Asian dominated area) getting out of their cars and asking questions and pointing to road signs. They all looked blankly at him and mumbled that they did not speak English.

I live close to the city and where I am is an amalgamation of side roads, main roads, freeways, tunnels etc and I tell you they CANNOT drive. If they get confused they just STOP DEAD not giving a care to the cars behind and around them. Dangerous!

As for the 5 second traffic light nothing is more annoying than when you have a situation like that and you can't even turn in that 5 seconds because the car in front of you isn't turning left. They are just sitting there waiting to go straight ahead.

No wonder road rage is increasing.

They are doing the same thing here. Beautiful old Moreton Bay Figs and it is certainly not helping Baird's rising hate rating.

How can people get a licence to drive in Australia if they cannot speak English? All the signs are in English, aren't they?

well the ones I was talking about I think could have been along the Parramatta Rd not sure but it was a turning lane only..and if you saw a taxi turn there it would be flying...I have no idea why we put up with what we do....for the most part we are controlled by fair dinkum idiots.

They just said on the news that Sydney traffic is slower than New York. Yet they just keep cramming people into Sydney and do nothing to alleviate the stress.

WHY does Sydney think their piss weak City has anything, whatsoever, to do with NEW YORK?

I said it was reported that SYDNEY TRAFFIC is slower than NEW YORK traffic which is notorious for being slow!
