It's ok Cods. Topics are expected to go off topic. If they didn't many would be 2 post wonders.

I can't drive in Sydney anymore especially with the increasing road rage - not that you can blame them for getting angry. If I see someone come up fast behind me now and sit close to my bumper - I pull over and let them pass.

Crikey. I'm so used to driving in Sydney....it's become 2nd nature ie I now expect to be surrounded by idiots who should not have a driver's licence.

Worst offenders??

1. P Platers

2. Taxi drivers

3. Asian drivers

4. Ute drivers

As soon as I spot any of the above species.....I immediately hang back and give them a lot of distance and/or change lanes so as to give someone else the pleasure of their company.

It used to be second nature for me too Lisa, but after having lived in a quieter area for so long - I've lost my nerve for fast, heavy traffic.

There are very few Asians in the area, but plenty of 4WD's and P platers who think they own the road. 4WD's are my pet hate. They're driven like bulldozers usually by bad drivers.

Ah....4WDs.

They used to be on my list. However, that was before I got one lol.

I do drive carefully and I also respect those around me.

Why?

There's no way I'd be able to live with myself.....if I scratched/damaged our Merc lol :rofl

Noooooo.....seriously, my priority is the kids*. It's all about making sure they're ok/safe. Cars can easily be repaired/replaced. Kids on the other hand...

* the kids = mine and those kids around me in other vehicles.

this actually wasnt about driving......it kinda shows how people only read what they want to read...BO called it driving after my post.. which really was about the way we are in the grip of bureaucrats who design awful things .. that the rest of us have to put with...

rorach was complaining about a new citizenship requirement... and I used fearful road designs in a planned city to show what we are dealing with..

people who think they are experts when in fact they need to be locked up...

ladies dont always blame your driving skills...

take a look at the road designs....and ask yourself if you couldnt do better?.

I remember a set of traffic lights in Sydney that gave a car about 5 seconds to make a right hand turn...usually at least 5 cars waiting to turn

Lisa - why do so many people who drive 4WD's reverse over their children? There's a mentality about some owners where as long as they feel safe - they don't have to give a thought to anyone around them.

Most bureaucrats haven't had any previous education or experience in the subject when they're given a portfolio. It's all trial and error. I don't know about Canberra, but Sydney is a cluttered mess. Maybe long term it will improve.

The road design in my area is pretty simple. There are only a few traffic lights and lots of roundabouts, which seem to work well.
