man from Perth Arrested..

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/k ... d5f06800b3

A PERTH man has been charged with the murders of Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon and attacking two other women in what may be a breakthrough in the long-running Claremont killings case.

Bradley Robert Edwards, 48, from Kewdale in Perth’s southeast, has also been charged over two other alleged attacks, one against a 17-year-old girl in Claremont in 1995, and the other against an 18-year-old woman in Huntingdale in 1988.

The long-running investigation into the murders has gripped West Australians for the past two decades.

The man has been charged with two counts of murder. Picture: Channel 9
Edwards was arrested by heavily-armed tactical response officers in his Kewdale home on Thursday and charged on Friday morning. He was charged with two counts of wilful murder, two counts of deprivation of liberty, two counts of aggravated sexual penetration without consent, one count of breaking and entering, and one count of indecent assault.

Edwards showed no emotion as he appeared in a Perth court this morning (local time).

at last...he has quite a long list of charges why has it taken this long to get him???>..

Yes, what a Great Christmas "gift" for the parents and family of the girls .... after 20 years, they finally got him. Well done WAPOL.

I wonder whether he has other murders, rapes, etc on his conscience? I reckon that he didn't just stop in 1997 or whenever it was and, suddenly, because a nice guy.

I am wondering what the others in the house are charged with....maybe they knew....or even helped him.. looks like the other things are more recent than those 3 girls.....as you say a huge thing for their families....got to hand it to the police they are getting stuck into these old cases and it looks like they could be winning....

3 cheers to the man who discovered the science of DNA and to all forensic depts...my SIL teaches forensics.

Well done. It's nice to see more and more people being caught for old crimes. I bet they think they were home and hosed.

Bradley Robert Edwards has now been charged with Sarah Spiers' murder. Good. So he murdered ALL 3 girls in Claremont!
Police have charged a man with the wilful murder of Sarah Spiers, a victim of the so-called Claremont serial killings in the 1990s.

Bradley Robert Edwards, 49, who had previously been charged with the murders of Ciara Glennon and Jane Rimmer, was on Thursday charged with Ms Spiers' murder.

The 18-year-old's body has never been found.

WA Police commissioner Chris Dawson said it was a "significant development" but he could not comment further.

Ms Spiers was one of three women to disappear in Claremont between January 1996 and March 1997 in a spate of crimes that came to be known as the Claremont serial killings.

If Edwards gets convicted of the 3 murders, I imagine that he would get at least 20-25 years for EACH murder, i.e. 60-75 years and hopefully no parole. :rofl

I was wondering how this person became a suspect after so much time had elapsed.

An interesting read:

the officers in charge must be really elated..

something must have given him away.... maybe he tried again and it didnt come off......

fancy a women being kidnapped and not reporting it....
