Gosh, I only just saw this. Hope you are OK, very bruised no doubt! You were lucky not to break any bones.Black Orchid wrote:I actually had something else in mind but became distracted.

I was walking Thursday and I heard a car coming up behind me so I stepped to the side and when I put my foot on the sloping channel at the side of the road that directs rainwater I found it was extremely slippery and WHAM. Both my legs went up in the air and I came down VERY hard on a huge rock, on my back and butt, with my legs up in the air. The impact jarred every bone in my body.
So here I am laying on my back in the bushes on this big rock and the stupid woman wasn't even going to stop. She did stop though. Winds down the passenger side window and leans over and glares at me. "Are you ok?" She asks. "Yes fine. Do I look ok?" I said.
So what does she do? Winds up the window and drives off. I couldn't get up and was stuck there for what seemed like ages. I finally got myself up and hobbled home and I haven't been able to walk on my left leg since. Excruciating pain from my knee and ankle. If I am lucky enough to fall asleep for short periods I wake up shortly afterwards with searing pain in my knee and down my leg if I try to turn in bed.

Not a whinge, just an answer to your exiting question - You're in the wrong place, I know, I grew up in Sydney and common courtesy got stomped by dog eat dog multiculturalism.Black Orchid wrote:I actually had something else in mind but became distracted.

One night a couple of months ago I was coming home and going down the mountain into my valley I thought I was running out of petrol.
As it turned out I made it the 5km from the main road home. Next morning I was going to Gin Gin but figured I wouldn't have enough fuel, so put a fuel drum on the ute and headed for Mt Perry, about half the distance away.
A few Ks up the road I ran out completely. Put a shade cloth over my dogs on the ute and stood on the side of the road with the fuel drum. Within minutes a bloke in a ute going in the opposite direction pulled up, turned around, took me to Mt Perry and dropped me back at my ute with the petrol. If I had been in a city I would have had to walk all the way, both ways.

When you've had a couple of falls and broken a bone or two - you stop taking your mobility for granted. A few years back I ran across the road to my car and stepped in an indentation in the road, twisted my ankle and fell. I knew I'd broken my foot instantly and thought - how do I get up gracefully. Two young workman were in a truck watching - that's all they did, but two women rushed across to help me up for which I was very grateful. I did some more shopping and then drove home before I gave into the pain.cods wrote:I havent had a fall for a long time the last biggy got me a broken ankle..you are lucky no bones broken...

I don't think it's discourtesy when you're not helped. Some people just don't know how to deal with another person's discomfort.
I wear practical shoes now if I have to do a bit of walking. I also look at the ground more often for potholes, bumps and cracks.
