OUR greatest heroes are often unsung. They’re the ones who step up when needed, who without hesitation do what needs to be done, without thinking about it. And in their words and deeds these quiet heroes make our communities safer and our society stronger.
But The Pride Of Australia awards is their time to shine, our way of saying “thanks” to those who have given so much.
congrats to everyone of them...
at last meet some very nice people

Yes, it is nice to see awards being given to people who actually deserve them for a change.

SOME people in society are willing to put adversity aside to rise above those trying to take them down or they put their community and others before themselves.
One of those who epitomise that spirit perfectly is former Sudanese child soldier Deng Adut, who came to Australia in 1998 as a teenage refugee without a word of English. These days he’s a lawyer and community advocate.
But he’s never forgotten those who were there in his early days, helping him find his feet in a new country.
One of those was Paul Hicherson, whose late father Geoff, a retired police officer, met Deng at church, enlisted him in his son’s soccer team and took the pair to training and to games together.
Geoff Hicherson died in 2003 and although Deng and Paul kept in a touch a bit, they both got swept up in their young adult lives.
I just thought you may enjoy a small addition to that story....its rather special..

Read about the Sudanese child soldier Deng Adut in the Australian (magazine) a few weeks ago.
Understandably he has trouble sleeping. I was temped to write in advising he may get some relief by sleeping outdoors.

If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?
