Trump just announced the withdrawal from the Transpacific partnership just recently agreed.

I don't know what this will mean for Australia. Since it really hasn't got off the ground before being killed off, is the impact low.

It can go ahead without the US.

I never supported some of the things the US wanted us to agree to anyway... companies suing governments, over-riding government policies etc...

I checked what the TPP meant and can't grasp what the fuck the USA bowing out will do? Can somebody explain, in simple language, please?

The TPP has been popular with most of our politicians, but the general population isn't keen on it from the news stories I've read. It means we're going to be very vulnerable to law suits by big corporations who will now be able to sue the government if it doesn't give priority to certain products.

That's about the only sensible decision Trump has made so far, but it's not going to make our politicians back out of the deal. The TPP was signed by the government months ago and might also have been ratified in early November.

Why is Australia so free trade when everyone else isn't or just plays lip service to it.

China, India ...etc don't do free trade.

We are the stupid country. We need to change and a little protection of some industries is important for a little country to make a go of it.

All we have is what we dig out of the ground.

Australia imports too much now. Where will the money come from.

I am beginning to think the Trump movement is pragmatism over ideology and is set to take over the world in the next decade.

If they skitch the KKK on to the WTO we'll never have to worry about these 'free trade' scams again.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?
