FYI - I have just deleted over 5000 account activations requests going back to 2013.

This should remove noise to allow real requests to be better served.

I just had a look at the very long Member list. There are many there who have not posted in years. What do you intend to do with them?

I intend to review them when I have the time. I was thinking to delete accounts that have not been used in years.

Thoughts would e appreciated.

Well I've already told you and others many should be deleted.

As for socks... if you are a genuine poster you don't need socks, socks are a decieit... used to bolster support when you don't have any, to give one more votes than they are allowed, to permit access when it has been denied...

Due to my lack of computer savvy or ineptness, during the server change/up date I couldn't log in, and when told I had successfully logged in was sent back to log in as soon as I tried to post. Not knowing of the update (until reading it) I thought my account had been hijacked. So to re-enter I attempted to register an new account under the name 'Pigstika'.

I have no need for it as a sock, but would like it saved (if possible) in the event I change my nick.
By saved I mean anybody else being prevented from using it.

They've always been allowed as an alternate persona, but the sock had no vote, and was deleted if just used to stir shit.
It was generally common knowledge who was using the sock.
Many of the funniest posts were made by socks.

Socks are fine, provided they aren't used to try to deceive people by trying to vote in the Election. That is NOT on.

There have been some very funny socks ... Curry Muncher is one I recall, we all assumed it was Deepthought, but who knows? It could have been IQ in one of his more humorous moods.

However, some people create a new sock (or socks) because they are banned (we KNOW who you are!) and that is reason to delete such socks (and extend the ban if necessary).

There are a heap of so-called Members who haven't been here for 5+ years ... can't they be sent an email to the address they registered with? If there is no reply .... delete them. Most are probably socks anyhow.

Having xxxx Members of which only xx contribute, doesn't make the site look interesting, it would make anyone checking the site think "Gee, so many members and only xx post regularly, looks like a shit site" ... better to get out the broom and get rid of the crap.

YES. I look at the Membership list when I find a Forum ....

I also read the posts to decide whether the Forum is a Left or Right one ... or WELL BALANCED WITH FREE SPEECH and Mods who don't delete what you write BEFORE it "offends" anybody.

NOBODY in their right mind joins a Forum to get denigrated for every post. We want DISCUSSION ... and that means "researching" and personal interpretation ... so, YES, people do check the membership and posts. They would be silly not to do so. Don't you think?

I don't have a problem with socks. They add a bit of colour provided they're good natured. I'm not keen on the angry trolls though who only come here to cause trouble.
