New Members Notice

Post by Super Nova » Sun Nov 20, 2016 6:18 pm

To new members who have recently registered.

If these Ids do not post and act as members within a month of being approved, I will suspend these accounts. Sox are OK but they need to be contributing members in my opinion.

Any member who doesn't want me to suspend their recent sox account, PM me.

FYI - I have just deleted over 5000 account activations requests going back to 2013.

This should remove noise to allow real requests to be better served.

I just had a look at the very long Member list. There are many there who have not posted in years. What do you intend to do with them?

4 all on the same day? 11 yesterday followed by 10 today? Someone seems to be keeping busy with nothing else to do!

I intend to review them when I have the time. I was thinking to delete accounts that have not been used in years.

Thoughts would e appreciated.

I would expect they are nearly all spammers. They probably like the new forum software better. Or maybe we never noticed them before.

As FD has said....spammers. I get in excess of 100 every day at FBD. Because of the aged software there, nothing I can do to prevent them registering. All I can do is delete them every morning. There is probably something you can do here, like at least require a captcha pass before anything gets through.

captcha was enabled but was a simple one. I have made moved it to a more complex image now. Let's see what happens.
