Re: Jessica Watson - asleep at the wheel!
If she continues she is an idiot.
She clearly does not know what she is doing and unless merciful dolphins or kind sea turtles guide her on the trip she will get in trouble again.
Risking her life for a record most people do not even care about or will remember a few weeks after it is acheived is just plain stupid.

Yes, she is stupid. No new knowledge will be gained, nobody except herself will get anything out of it, she will be forgotten within weeks, unless somebody dies trying to rescue her.
The government can't stop her going, but I think her parents and sponsors should pay any rescue costs, as there are bound to be, if she is too stupid to even turn on her alarm systems. She isn't even old enough to vote, why should she be allowed to do something that potentially puts other people at risk?

Very irresponsible of her parents ,she is far too young to cope with such an undertaking and the almost inevitable rescue operation in the foreseeable future if she goes ahead.
She will need more than merciful dolphins and turtles if it all goes pearshaped.

And when she's too far away to call mummy and daddy on her mobile again when she crashes.

If she can get a signal out there- how will she be with no Facebook , My Space or unable to receive her Tweets?

Having a category for "the youngest" to do something dangerous, like this always is, is itself irresponsible. Eventually you're going to hit a limit where people too young to handle it are being encouraged to give it a go, for the fame and the sponsorship deals.

Apparently we are sexist for thinking like this.

No wonder Jessica is going, her mum sounds like a loony:

Yeah, it's the sailor we're worried about.Repairs have been made to Jessica's yacht since the collision and Mrs Watson says her daughter is now ready to set sail again.
"We have done a little preparation for this voyage and it is probably the most prepared boat that you have ever seen on the sea," she said.

The sea knows no sex. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
They should at least have a law that if Maritime authorities say you are unqualified or equipped for a particular journey you will have to pay for any or all rescue efforts.

Who's going to say "no" to this girl, once she's in real trouble?
Playing the media, or wot?
