OzPolitic is getting more popular, but I have no idea how it is going overall.
I think people use facebook and forums for different things. Social media took away some of those things from forums, but it also invented a lot of its niche.

I think the reason that OP appears to be getting more popular is that there are more and more socks signing up, so an increase in member rate maybe, but that is deceptive.
If you look at how many are signed in daily compared to the past it is definitely declining. Rather obviously.
