Re: Hill billy capers
Seems somewhere over that (last) weekend I lost a day, and didn't know till Friday.
So the fire was on Monday not Sunday, and the police raid was on Tuesday not Monday.
When I last posted, on Thursday I thought it was Wednesday. On the way home a silver Prado soon overtook me, and just after that a white sedan so keen to get past over took on double yellow lines. I thought "White sedan and silver Prado are the same vehicles ben and his back-up had last weekend". Tried to get the number plate of the white sedan. Got 517.D?? ... could be 517.DNA or 517.DMA but not certain, and seem to have an image in my head of the word 'Maxima' across the rear of the white sedan, but never really got a proper look, so could be mistaken.
I figured they were going to Custard Guts' place, but considered the could lay in ambush at my place. So when I got to the front of my block I let the dogs off, locked my hubs in for 4WD ready to use the bull-bar for ramming, took my hunting knives out of their locked box and put them on. Fortunately there was nothing to worry about, which I probably should have known because Benny Fables is scared of my cameras in trees.
Yesterday (Saturday) I heard another place got robbed in Mt Perry on Thursday night and more guns were taken.
Had to move a dozer (#1, #2 is still on a job - is an International too but is smaller, older and red).
Needs a bearing. In the adjoining valley (with a different name) a speed junkie car thief decided to become a greenie after getting out of gaol/jail last year for bashing his missus. So sabotaged 6 dozers up there. One really big dozer had $200k's worth of damage done. The owner from a place up near Gladstone paid $10k for him to be sorted out. So at Xmas some nice chappies did a drive-by with a full auto and a high powered rifle and ventilated his house. The yellow International in the pic was repaired but keeps spitting the rear crankshaft bearing out, even after being welded in. So is going to be modified slightly so the bearing stays put.
So Friday arvo (which at the time I thought was Thursday) I was preparing to go out and bring the dozer home.
Fed the dogs, and Gemma my pig-dog bitch took a pup over to a stand of trees on a hill opposite my camp site to feed it alone.
Then left it to go grab a piece of roo carcass she keeps bringing back to camp. The pup was crossing a clearing then started screaming its head off. An Eagle had grabbed it and my red dog Fred charged from under the caravan, did the roughly 70 metre dash across the open ground in seconds to pluck the eagle a new arsehole. The eagle let the pup go and flew up into a nearby tree.
Fred acts like he doesn't like the pups, growls and snaps at them when they come near him, but when one was in distress he saved the day. What a champion.
Custard Guts (currently lives in Bundy) turned up next door Friday arvo then went to his block. At 6pm last night (Saturday) Benny Fables pulled up at my driveway and beeped his horn then went to Custard Guts' place.
This morning I spied on Custard Guts place with my Russian military field scope and spotted an unknown (to me) red Falcon before Benny Fables left in the white sedan.
They're determined to cause trouble, and I'm reasonably certain they're going to get some.

Re: Hill billy capers
Got invited for a drink at a friend's while I was about to go for a hunt on Friday. Said "I'll come 'round later".
Had walk around the cattle lease out the back, found reasonably fresh rippings/rootings and went home.
Went to Mt Perry, got a gas cylinder filled, dropped it off outside my van and went for a drink.
When I got home about 4am next morning it was bloody cold (3C) and it seems Benny Fables (currently living or staying at Custard Guts' place & driving the red Falco I spotted via telescope) must have been watching from the hill next to my place, snuck in while I was gone and let all the gas out. Because when I went to use it, the cylinder was empty.
Got word some blocks up in the adjoining valley are being ripped up by feral pigs and the owners was someone to deal with them.
Went up yesterday arvo to check it out. Took a topographical map showing the property boundaries so I know where I can and cannot go.
When I got there another pig-dogger from Mt Perry was there and had just got a couple of sows. He left and I had a scout around.
Told owner I want to get gas and batteries for my head lamp. Went to Mt Perry but got there too late.
Went home, cooked with wood, then went back to the blocks checked that arvo in the dark.
With fading batteries I wound up getting lost in a swamp and it was really cold, despite 2 jackets and gloves.
Heard a V8 so figured "The road's that way". Headed in that direction using Gemma being white to know where the track was in the moonless dark. Eventually spotted light from a distant house, found my ute and went home to a roaring fire. And slept beside it.
In Mt Perry ATM, got more gas and batteries.

But you don't know what I'd write about.Neferti~ wrote:No more than "A Cabbies Day" would.Outlaw Yogi wrote:It'd get banned.
For example, if I was to mention, cite, and elaborate that until the advent of Islamic extremist terrorism, at least half if not more of the supposed terrorist atrocities were perpetrated by intelligence agencies and intelligence wings of police forces, quite a few pillar of society noses would get out of joint.
There was an ASIS operative who wrote about NSW Police Special Branch and ASIO's involvement in the 1978 Sydney Hilton bombing and he had to leave the country.

Last letter from the ATO was threatening 'Legal action'.
I didn't bite/react, just kept paying small amounts.
Yesterday I got a letter indicating a change of Tune, offering 'Remission of Penalties'.
They still want me to ring them, and I think they've worked out I won't sign up to automatic debits.
If not I'll tell them so again, that I won't because I don't have a guaranteed income.
But at least they're responding to (by mentioning) the letter I wrote them in June, rather than just ignoring it.

Many, long years ago, I decided not to submit a tax return because I "couldn't be bothered". I received a threatening letter from the ATO (eventually) and got fined 5 bucks for something like "tax avoidance". It was a very long time ago .... I was earning about $100 a week, back in the day when you got the Chemist to sign that you had spent $20 on medicines and ditto the GP to claim back "expenses" ... before Medibank.Medicare.
