Oh look, a Taxi thread.

Gold Coast’s newest rideshare operator wants to shake up transport market.

AT least 100 new drivers will converge on the Gold Coast at the end of the month as a new major player muscles in on the taxi market.

Executives of Sydney-based company GoCar are on the Gold Coast this week to scout out locations and process drivers after the State Government’s decision to legalise ridesharing in Queensland from September 5.

How does UBER actually work - from experiences? The War Office and I are going to the USA in September and apparently UBER is everywhere! How do you get an "Uber"?

Download the app, give your CC details and book a ride where and when you want.

Shits all over taxi services.

I have become an Uber fan. The company's ultimate goal is to make individual car ownership unnecessary. Uber's competition Lyft is a bit better in my opinion because the drivers make a little more and it shows.

Uber is still bleeding millions of dollars in losses. The company may not become profitable every quarter until the driverless technology is fully in place.

Uber has put SF's largest taxi company out of business. And the rail system there, BART, is pretty good. You won't need a car there.

Thanks AiA. Is Alamo rental car OK? We are hiring one for 20 odd days and they are half the cost of Avis. Hertz etc. Those two want an extra $US300 just for the privilege of hiring in SF and dropping off in Seattle!
