I doubt that the customers were only lefties. There are a lot of wealthy people who would be conservative voters who don't pay their way because they don't like opening their wallets.
It's disgusting though how greedy some people can be. Still the people who created the restaurant are stupid for not putting a minimum price on their food - at least enough to help cover the cost of their overheads.
