Australian swimmers enjoying Rio Olympics 2 gold

Post by Dr. Caligari » Sun Aug 07, 2016 12:50 pm

So much for the denizens on Ozpolitic who are poo pooing the Rio Olympics.

2 Gold for swimming and one bronze for archery. Could be best ever start for Australia in Olympics since Melbourne 1956.

Personally haven't seen any poo-pooing here.

RIO 2016 opportunities for Australia ... USA slow to start

Post by Dr. Caligari » Mon Aug 08, 2016 9:49 am

Rio 2016. Australia having a good start which might spur greater achievements. USA must be having one of their worst starts ever.

Blame it on Brexit: Great Britain still at zero medals.

Australia claim bronze in men's 4x100m relay

A stunning final leg effort from Cameron McEvoy gave Australia a bronze medal in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay.

Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi (crap.... I now no longer like that chant, wonder why)

I have been watching it. Cameron McEvoy did SO WELL to get us a Bronze. We were also-rans for a bit.

Why James Magnussen? He's that smartarse who thought he was God's Gift in London 2012.

Actually, I was really surprised to see McEvoy looking like a little "short man" but he is 1.85 (6'), Magnussen is 1.98 (6'4") and the other guys are 1.83 (6'.05) and 1.93 (6'3.98).

GO McEVOY in a couple of other Events. Hope he gets his personal GOLD.

Australia was Number 1 on the Medals Board for ONE day.

There have been a few surprises getting GOLD ....

Why do "we" place so much pressure on the Swimming Team?

I want to see how we do at Athletics ... and I always enjoy the Triathlon/s if we get into them.

Fun times ahead.

I had to laugh at Usain Bolt's comments on not attending the opening ceremony. He has a hamstring injury and could have used that as an excuse but instead just said he was too lazy to attend.

At least he was honest.

China moves ahead of USA by 2 gold

Post by Dr. Caligari » Wed Aug 10, 2016 10:42 am

Australia third place behind USA. Russia moving up.

The most interesting swimming race will be the men's 1500 with Mack Horton facing Sun Yang in a grudge match.
