This election is the most gloomy one I can remember. There's nothing to vote for. The thought of Turnbull or Shorten as PM is seriously worrying. The Coalition will win simply on their stop the boats policy, which is now becoming ridiculous. On the one hand they're keeping 2,000 refugees in detention at a cost of $5 billion a year and with the other hand they're opening the door to hundreds of thousands of foreign students, "skilled and unskilled" workers and backpackers who can work for less than their Australian counterparts. Australians looking for the same work can't compete.

If Gillard had been strong enough to stop the boats - she would probably still be PM today.

I had to spend a lot of time in the car today and they kept playing an LNP advert on the radio over and over again. It went something like this ...

"Don't vote for independents because they are either in it only for the money or for their ego".

I mean really, aren't they all?

Assuming you vote conservative but don't want to reward Turnbull and his backstabbing cohorts...take the advice of former treasury secretary John Stone
To recap, then, those “Rules of Engagement”, first for the House: (1) vote National wherever a National Party candidate is standing; (2) if your Liberal Party member was among those betraying their leader last September, put that person last – and last means last; but if not, then vote for him or her as usual. In the Senate, the same principles apply but, because of the different voting system, must be activated somewhat differently: (3) most importantly, vote below the line, filling in 12 squares but excluding anyone in the Coalition lists who betrayed Abbott. To illustrate, in NSW I propose to give my first four votes to the four Nationals listed on the joint ticket; then to three Liberals, but excluding Marise Payne, Arthur Sinodinos and (for other reasons) Hollie Hughes; and then to Family First, Christian Democrats, Australian Liberty Alliance, Liberal Democrats and the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party. Easy; just follow the Rules.

I live in a blue ribbon Liberal seat and I think our sitting member is in for a big scare tomorrow from an Independent.

Isn't that Joe Hockey's old seat? Who is the Independent?

Dr Stephen Ruff. He used to be my Orthopaedic Surgeon many years ago.

In last year's by-election he got almost 40% of the two party preferred vote. Trent Zimmerman took over from Joe. Joe was well liked, Zimmerman not so much. It will depend on preferences no doubt and he probably won't come up trumps tomorrow but he will give the Libs a run for their money.

Turnbull's arrogrance is offensive. What a hyprocrite. Was he lying a couple of years ago when he presented himself to Australia as a moderate or he is lying now by portraying himself as a true conservative? At least with Abbott we got what we expected and Howard was always predictable. I hope Turnbull gets a good slap in the face if he wins, but doesn't get his mandate - or maybe that's what he wants and is making deals with the Independents right now. No-one knows who or what Turnbull is.

Turnbull's claim of the Coalition being the stable party is a joke?

Shorten has come a long way and done well for Labor.

I hope Julie Bishop loses her seat.
