Not believing in a God as such does not negate the possibility of an afterlife (spirit world of some description) or reincarnation, nor does it take away our personal responsibility for our thoughts and prosperity. Only the most devout surrender themselves totally to a deity they cannot explain.

And ultimately no responsibility for ones actions, hence the reason you find so many in western societies claiming atheism but worshipping other forms of deities. It's possible without a belief in a higher power that there is a lack of focus within humans which results in the "atheists" finding solace in trying to control people's actions rather than controlling their own emotions.

I agree that believing in a higher power may be an evolutionary advantage allowing society to work better. Nothing like the threat of punishment in the next life (hell or reincarnation as an ant) to help keep everyone under control and treating each other better. Without it, there is only everyone out for themselves or their immediate tribe/family.

I would like to know when god takes us to hell or heaven.... and I am dead in different ways.

What if I am brain dead, do I go then or after my body dies. What if my body dies and my brain is kept alive. What happens if I am dead, but keep cold for a day and then revived?
