Working in Riyadh all through. 20 hr days.
Go live on 2nd Jan.
team of 15 working all through from all over the world.
Saudi, no fun allowed, even if we had time there is nothing to do.
In Dubai, it will be a big party, piss and fireworks. I'll miss it all.

Re: New Year's Eve
More of an IT thing than anything else SN. I had years of no Xmas and no New Years when I was in IT or ICT as they are want to call it these days.
Will maybe stay up and watch Sydney on TV for a change... but hey... it is just another day after all.

Re: New Year's Eve
We've been invited to a party at one of the neighbours but my wife isn't a party person. My son has said he isn't going and would prefer to stay home gaming. I used to go to these things alone for years but I don't drink copious amounts anymore so I think I'll stay home with them and have a BBQ and a couple of quite Coopers in front of the TV. I'm a boring old fart these days.

This time of year is when my Scottish heritage comes out! My Scottish ancestors came to Australia in 1852.

Happy New Year to you all. I am going away tomorrow for a few days so I won't be doing anything exciting tonight. I hate huge crowds anyway.

Public displays of people have fun is forbidden.AiA in Atlanta wrote:

Dubai has huge fireworks. I don't think it is considered anti Islamic.
However the new year is not something that is celebrated under Islam. The 2 Eids, one after Ramadan and one after hujj are the only 2 times a year were formal celebrations are scheduled.
