Years back I recall the story of a Yank woman who after being warned not to swim was taken out by a croc. There were even Aussies yelling at her to get out of the water as the croc approached. She didn't listen. Water must have been too nice.
I think English tourists are the dumbest, the most disconnected from nature and danger.

Yeah, England is so safe. it took me years of walking to stop scanning the edge the footpath a metre ahead looking for nasty's.
I still flip a log and check before picking it up. POMs just grab it and carry.

Living here in the States there are still animals that can hurt and kill: rattlesnakes and other serpents abound. Out west there are felines large enough to take out a man easily. And there are bears ...Super Nova wrote:Yeah, England is so safe. it took me years of walking to stop scanning the edge the footpath a metre ahead looking for nasty's.

Snakes and spiders worry me not but I would never go camping in the states. I would be totally unimpressed if I came bear or a mountain lion
A friend in CA has come across mountain lions scrounging through garbage bins on several occasions.

Snakes and spiders don't bother me that much, although I hate having a huntsman indoors and will NOT go to bed until it is removed!
I definitely wouldn't go walking in some woody areas in the USA .... bears and mountain lions, plus other wild things.
Tourists who ignore signs about crocodiles in swimming holes are just plain stupid. We tend to lose the odd tourist every so often. Crocodiles are more dangerous than sharks.

I will never understand why anyone would go anywhere near waterways in the top end that harbour crocodiles. It's insanity.

You're being a bit unfair to the toursits, AiA... plenty of natural born Aussies do their best to be nominated for a Darwin award.
