Govt. selling us out
The Productivity Commission has launched a scathing attack on Australia's latest series of free trade agreements, saying they grant legal rights to foreign investors not available to Australians, expose the government to potentially large unfunded liabilities and add extra costs on businesses attempting to comply with them.

Only the libs are dumb enough to sell us out in favour of multinationals ... One of Australia's biggest exports to Japan is cereals (I know, rice isn't quite a cereal, but close enough) and machine parts are one of Japans biggest import items, globally ... and yet this government was stupid enough to agree to exclude car parts and rice from the free trade agreement!
see if you can find anything the Japanese aren't allowed to sell to us as part of the agreement?

I don't agree with FTA's regardless of who supports them and labor didn't give away all our rights like Abbott did ... there's a reason labor didn't sign them and negotiations were taking so long.

Oh dear not so long ago that giant intellect Craig "Whyalla" Emerson was going around the countryside defending FTAs on public forums, only ON members were willing to debate him on that. The Libs largely agreed or just didn't show up.
Dems and Greens were also no shows.

Unfortunately Labor is just as complicit. If the FTA with China fails - and it doesn't look as though it's going to be popular, Labor will be able to say they weren't to blame, although I think it has to get the approval of other parties first before it's official. If Labor signs off on it - then they're culpable too.J o h n S m i t h wrote:I don't agree with FTA's regardless of who supports them and labor didn't give away all our rights like Abbott did ... there's a reason labor didn't sign them and negotiations were taking so long.
I think it's the wrong time to hook up with China though. Unemployment is high enough without Chinese workers being imported here. China can now buy up as much of Australia as it pleases and when they employ their own workers on Chinese wages - then unemployment for Australians is going to get a lot higher.

This is the best you can do in criticising the Abbott government for improving Australia's economic future!

improving our economic future?
most manufacturing in Australia has already shut down, this will only shut down what little there is left. FTA's only ensure the economic future off multinationals, not Australians.
One day, when you grow up and decide to look for work, you'll understand.
