Fleas
Every other summer I get a mild flea infestation in my house thanks to my cat. I use the topical flea treatment that lasts one month but I think I let it go 5 weeks and that is all it took. I have heard there is now a pill that is even more effective I will try. The pest exterminator is here now ... Anyone else deal with this? Roaches, Palmetto bugs, ants, spiders ... I have seen it all in this house except mice. The cat brings those up out of the woods in addition to ground squirrels and birds.

We get the smallest ants I have ever seen in my house here in Dubai. We were advised to use Windex and it worked a treat. They stay away. No idea why.
Worked better than surface spray.

I imagine insects would be few in that part of the world. Am I right?

I live not far from the beach and the sandy soil is an incubator for fleas. Cats are carriers definitely. I've managed to eradicate them generally on my property, but when she visits neighbours she comes home infested with them. It reached a point where I was going to put her down, not because she was bringing fleas home, but she developed an allergy to them and it's been impossible to keep them off her. They have been driving her mad, so I've been keeping her inside most of the time which she hates and so do I. Flea medications and other treatments aren't very effective. Fleas are more resilient than cockroaches.
Aside from Dubai is there any place where there are no fleas, cockroaches, mites, mosquitoes, spiders or stinging insects?

I haven't used Frontline for years. I found it ineffective, but it might have improved. I've been using Advantage, which isn't much better, but will give Frontline another go out of desperation. These treatments cost about $15 a month per cat, which is a rip off considering how useless they are.

I have heard that products such as Frontline have to tweak the formula because fleas develop immunity.

I've found that dousing the cat in petrol and then burning the fleas off works a treat, the fleas never come back ...
now that I think of it I haven't seen the cat around for ages either

You could try Smiths trick of how he gets rid of his pubic lice.
You'll need a razor, a lighter and an ice pick.
Shave half your pubes.
Light the unshaven pubes on fire.
When the crabs run out of the burning bush, stab them repeatedly with the ice pick.
