I agree with Barnaby... Depp isn't above our laws... did he deliberately flaunt them or was he simply ignorant? I don't know but it seems only the ABC is continually trying to beat this crap up and keep the ridicule and garbage going.
I support strong protection of Australia and its flora and fauna and our agriculture, etc. Don't you?

I don't think anyone is implying that JD is above the law nor that he, or anyone else, should be given special concessions but Barnaby did not handle it well. He wanted some publicity and got just that. Most of it not good.

Flapping around the press saying he was going to have the dogs put down was not handling things with any diplomacy.

It could have been done deliberately for political reasons. It didn't come on an animal, but in a batch to a laboratory.

Little is known about the sample sent to Australia, including the type of laboratory that received it.

Well, yeah, they deliberately imported the virus, but it was supposed to be irradiated (dead).

Actually mel, he's the Minister for Agriculture.

EDIT ADDITION - Just for the sake of clarity ... if you want to import an animal (any animal) into OZ there's a mandatory 6 months quarantine. Prime reason being we don't have Rabies in OZ, and most of the rest of the world does.
