Re: Struggle Street
I presume that SBS was showing all the white bogans?
IF they can live and buy drugs on the Dole we are paying too much for the Dole.
Every community, be it in Australia or elsewhere, has leaches ... those people who don't want to fit in to society and claim whatever benefit the taxpayers allow.
I used to feel sorry for lost and sad people. When married and lived in Sydney we brought several "lost souls" home and even left them there when we went to work. None of them stole anything. These people do NOT want to do anything for themselves ... so you are wasting your time and energy trying to "help" them? They need to help themselves and most are NOT interested in Social Services ... they have opted out of LIFE. They don't have a Bank Account so don't get the Dole ....... they are merely Drop Outs and the best we can do is give them space to do whatever and not hassle them. Eventually, they might seek assistance.

No, they even showed an indigenous homeless guy who hung shit on his own indigenous family for deserting him.
He claimed his white mates were more inclined to help him out than his own indigenous friends and family.
Serious, nef, try and download it if you can, if you have trouble, PM me, i'll send you a torrent link.

Mellie,
I really don't need to view these sad losers. I guess they are all blaming Tony Abbott for the dilemma they are in.
Or are they blaming their parents?
Trailer trash. Perhaps their parents were trailer trash also. Who knows.
I really feel sad for little children who have to live in this type of situation. It is not their fault and who is going to give them the incentive to go to school and make something of themselves? I have no sympathy for the parents. Or their parents.

They are LOSERS. Pure and simple. They have absolutely no intention of getting up off their arses and starting over. They want The Government to help them.
I know all about it. I left an abusive husband with my 5 year old daughter and a case of clothes and $300 in the bank. I divorced him 18 months later and did NOT ask for any "compensation" . That is, I got nothing monetary from him, my SOLE responsibility of my daughter was enough for me.
I worked hard and saved hard and a couple of years after I separated, I had enough deposit to buy a house!
I got absolutely NOTHING from the Government. NOTHING!

Obviously you did.
This social dysfunction is inter-generational and endemic, my thoughts are with the children, and what can be done to remove them from this horror, stop the cycle.
I understand your feelings of anger and helplessness Nef, I felt exactly the same when I watched it the first night, though these feelings then gave way to my wanting something done about it, for the kids sake.
I don't believe Docs should have to make appointments with known to be neglectful bogan parents to make periodic spot-checks.
And as harrowing as it might be, I think it's time we started removing children from their abusive environments permanently, no more second chances.
These kids didn't ask to be born into this atrocity.

Then what? Massive compensation further down the line for another 'stolen generation'?mellie wrote:And as harrowing as it might be, I think it's time we started removing children from their abusive environments permanently, no more second chances.
