Troll you are such a disingenuous idiot.... so just what do you and Hawking suggest we do about an extraterrestrial extinction event? Hmmm?boxy wrote:Quite a negative attitude you have there, Roach. yes bad things could happen to us and the planet... happened before, but let's not dwell on things we cannot control.![]()
and lets not consider all mankind and it's future in a completely negative light, he may well have personal reasons to be so negative but that doesn't in anyway make his personal biases and delusions correct now does it..
Whereas Hawking's attitude is completely optimistic by comparisons, advocating that we do what we can to ensure the long term survival and expansion of human endevour.

I think he stated fairly unambiguously, what should be done. Try reading the article for clues.

That may be all you are qualified to do...
I can put an arrow in a target at 100m and qualified as a marksman with an SLR.
I doubt you could draw a string strong enough to send an arrow 100 metres, or have the physical ability to carry an SLR from the safe to the bench. I reckon if you fired an SLR you'd cry 'cos the .308 hurt your wimpy shoulder.
If Donald Trump is so close to the Ruskis, why couldn't he get Vladimir Putin to put novichok in Xi Jjinping's lipstick?

It truely amazes me that with all our technology and record keeping there are still cretins able to dispute the existence of Global Warming, which has been happening for 18,000 years since the last glacial maximum and increased in pace within the last few decades.
So we've gt low lying land all over the planet being gradually submerged and the polar regions melting to sludge, yet some people are still able to claim Global Warming is a scam.
Global Warming itself not a scam, it's effort to benefit financially from Global Warming that is the scam. Scam #1- Carbon Trading - a regime where those generating the most GHGs are paid for supposedly not emitting as much CO2 as they have been. Scam #2 Carbon Tax - a regime where the public pays for certain industries carbon emmissions so pollies have more money to put in their superannuation accounts.
As for cncern over apocolyptic doomsday scenarios. It is generally believed life on Earth began with a virus which hitched a ride from space on a asteroid, and life on Earth will probably end due to a virus, possibly via the same vector.
Worrying about doomsday or devoting time/resources to evade it, IMO is squandering the average 70 years each we have on this rock.

SLRs were the Rifles used in the Army at the time, and my wimpy shoulder hurt using a 303...

SLRs don't hurt at all.

The idyllic beaches on the island of Buoj where Marshall Islands President Christopher Loeak fished as a boy are already submerged, and the ever-encroaching ocean now threatens to wash away roads, schools and airstrips.
"The end of the island gets shorter every year. Some places we used to stand on the beach to fish are now in the water," Mr Loeak, 60, told AFP.
Buoj is one of 52 islands in Ailinglaplap, an atoll that a Marshall Islands survey found was one of its most vulnerable to climate change.

President Tong tells The Telegraph that this is their last resort: 'Our people will have to move as the tides have reached our homes and villages.'
Kiribati is about halfway between Hawaii and Australia and is made up of 32 low-lying atolls and one raised island. Most of its population has already moved to one island, Tarawam, after the rest of their land disappeared beneath the ocean.
Villagers on Abaiang, one of the Kiribati Islands, had to relocate the entire village of Tebunginako because of rising seas and erosion.
